85 Years of Community Culture

The Carlisle Theatre has been the "gem of downtown Carlisle" since it opened as the Comerford Theatre in 1939. For 85 years, the Theatre has contributed to community service, culture, and the enrichment of Carlisle. It provides a variety of performances and films that are not otherwise available nearby, and is a cherished part of the community. This timeline shares specific details about the rich and vital history of the Carlisle Theatre.

To view individual events on the timeline, you can click through the arrows on either side of the screen. To pick a specific event, scroll through the bottom menu.

The citation at the end of many of the timeline events refers to the CRPAC Archive, a collection of documents and materials relating to the Carlisle Theatre Project and Carlisle Regional Performing Arts Center from 1993 to 2015. The series of numbers in each citation refers to the file within the archive that the information is from. CRPAC Archive is currently housed in the Dickinson College Archives & Special Collections, and will be returned to the Carlisle Theatre on Monday, December 18.
