I developed the content strategy and deliverables for Klaviyo’s API overviews, partnering with the product manager for APIs to make them a standard component of every new API release. I wrote this overview from scratch—the first in the series—drawing on conversations with engineering and testing my example API requests in Postman to ensure accuracy. I authored most of the overviews and was the sole writer for this document.
Following our standard process, I obtained final approval from a solutions architect and peer proofreading from another technical writer, incorporating suggestions aligned with our style guide before publishing. The Klaviyo API overview series has become one of the most referenced areas of Klaviyo’s developer documentation. This overview for Klaviyo’s Events API remains the most viewed, averaging over 45,000 monthly views as of October 2025.
As part of a documentation revamp for Klaviyo’s partner resources, I co-developed a content strategy with the product manager for the Partner App Experience team. The existing OAuth guide, originally authored by another technical writer, had grown to cover all aspects of OAuth app development in a single document, making it increasingly complex for developers and challenging for our team to maintain. I adapted and reorganized the content into a structured journey, using Figma to plan the new information architecture and flow. The OAuth guide was reimagined as seven focused guides designed to help app developers successfully build and publish OAuth apps for the Klaviyo App Marketplace.
I collaborated with the original author, the product manager, and the partnerships team, incorporating peer feedback before publication. After launch, the partnerships team reported that developers were completing the app review process much faster—with many apps moving from submission to approval in as little as two weeks, down from up to 60 days previously. This article, Make API calls using OAuth, clearly explains how developers can make authorized API calls, linking to relevant resources and using diagrams, code samples, and tables to improve readability.
Handle your app's OAuth flow is one of seven OAuth help articles I authored (see Klaviyo OAuth app resources). It features interactive elements created with Driveway, an AI screen-capture tool for in-app walkthroughs. I used Readme.io's Custom HTML blocks with CSS styling to design captioned containers for the embedded walkthroughs, providing clear guidance for users. I've applied similar custom solutions across Klaviyo's developer portal—such as styled accordions for accessible visuals—to enhance the developer experience. This guide explains critical areas developers must address to ensure a smooth user experience when installing and uninstalling both standalone and embedded apps.
This content originally existed in the previous guide, Make API calls using OAuth (originally titled Set up OAuth). I added clarifying language, visuals, and custom styling to make the content easier to follow, while another technical writer provided peer proofreading. The product manager for the Partner App Experience team and members of the partnerships team also reviewed and approved the guide before publication.
