guys, i need your suggestions about the best review centers here in metro manila. i will take my NLE this november and i like to review early. i dont know what topic should i study first and i'm really so confused.any suggestions or advice will be appreciated.thanks and god bless.:)

what is nice about cbrc is that they'll not only feed you with knowledge, teach you test taking strategies, the most important thing they gave me was the " confidence " in answering the exam! which is very important. of course, taking any time of exam will make a person nervous( i remember when i took written exam for my drivers license!lol). keep in mind "little nervouness" is healthy, but no or full of nervousness is "poison".

don't be too hard on the review process. chew it like a bubble gum and absorb the all sweetness! then when the day of the exam comes ("the big day" as we call it before) all is up to god. remember do your part which is to review and god will do the rest.

carl balita review center! dude u've got to buy his book the ultimate guide to nursing board exams i think dats d name. just read that book a couple of times it would help u a lot.. also try answering the previous board exams questions,,

thanks a lot for the wonderful advice ulyza. i'll try to go to clrc this week for inquiry. i'm currently reading phn and cd books. i'll try to finish reading these books before june. i know i have plenty of time to review and all i really have to do is to focus on my self review... i'll always remember your advice to dont be too hard on the review process.. thanks a lot and god bless!:)

what are the "must buy" books/materials that i must have for my review for local board aside from the book of carl balita? i only have the following: PHN book, handbook of Common communicable and infectious diseases, Med-Surg of Joyce Black, and Funda book by kozier. thanks and god bless!:wink2:

i suggest you try Equip Review Center as well ..i never seen a review center that has a friendly staff and the best coaches..you wont regret best of all much cheaper compare with those commercial review center...just my 2 cents of thoughts

actually, from what I heard from my friend, CArl Balita is now not connected with SLRC( Saint Louis Review Center) He is now on his own making His own review center. I don't really know what happen between him and the owner of SLRC or why they split up...

the reason of the sudden change may be found in this link. it may not be directly stated but since they're unholy action was busted they decide to change it so the dirt won't be shared to the new one.

i reviewed in slrc before that's why i recommend it "before" since i found their review light and easy. but since they've done an illegal act i won't be pro slrc or be it cbrc. the consequences of what they did affected our reputations as filipinos and our pt's. it shouldn't be patronize anymore.

i thought it was slrc baguio branch that has been raid. i was really shocked when i found out it was manila branch - carl balita's review center. even if they change the name. it desn't change a thing, it was them who was raided by the police

dr. carl balita review center is the former Saint louie review center.. uhm they focus in test taking style, i mean it's not like pentagon that have a pure lecture, in carl balita it's Q&A type of review..because of that, sometimes they did not tackle all lessons or watever about nursing.. and sir balita loves to sing hehehe... they are good in building the confidence of their reviewee... it helps me a lot hahaha

NCLEX is not as hard as most nurses thought IF YOU HAVE PREPARED ENOUGH. I did not go to any review center in prep for my NCLEX cause I learned my lesson. I once attended a review class in prep for NLE, and I got nothing more than what I learned from school. What I did was A LOT OF READING and used Saunders Comprehensive Review AS A GUIDE. I read the entire book and used our college textbooks (MS by Black, MCN by Pilliteri, Pedia by Wong) as reference whenever I cannot explain a certain disease process. I answered the questions at then end of each chapter, and assessed myself by answering the questions in the accompanying CD. I did that for 3 months in Starbucks, while nursing a broken heart. I finished my exam in 1 hour w/ 75 questions. The point is, NCLEX will ask you questions that an entry level nurse MUST know. All of these things are in the books. Lectures are of great help, but YOUR UNDERSTANDING of the concept will be the one to save you when faced with questions that requires CRITICAL THINKING. i KNOW

don't believe in any centers of firms offering a 100% passing rate in any exams for the possibility of attaining such is from less to no chances. it is not even close to fact. just be attentive in all the lessons regardless of whatever path you may take. take things seriously but don't forget to share some joys with your friends and loved ones. goodluck!

Self-review worked for me. Most of the questions I encountered in NCLEX were not discussed when I was reviewing for NLE. In NCLEX, UNDERSTANDING is the key. If you know the disease process, you can explain the signs & symptoms, thus, the management. Knowing the diseases common in the US will be useful in answering NCLEX questions.

tnx for the info akoitoh, i guess dr. balita is not the review center for me if thats the case. yah i know pentagon is good but i've read some forums wherein the moderators here don't recommend those review centers that were involved in the june 2006 leakage exam coz it might affect your US employment in the future. geez, looking for a good review center is harder than i thought:o

wow, same here, i got nothing in review center for NLE.. i'm going to take my nclex next year, and i want to follow your strategy but im having a hard time to discpline myself for self review, i think if im going to starbucks everyday :idea:wwhhaaa i need to pay for coffee of SB everyday...hhaaaay what should i do.. hehehe

reviewing for nclex??? tell you, enrolling in ANY review center here in manila will be just a waste of money because you yourself can just buy the books, cds, and have the comfort of having your own time reviewing at home and STILL PASS THE NCLEX. review centers only gives you the facility.

it will also confuse you, in a way that majority of nclex testers suggests saunders, while review centers will also suggest it BUT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO GET BOOKS FROM THEM TOO THAT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO READ ALL THAT! - result is, rumbled ideas about a certain topic and that will drain you down from exerting your effort to understand a topic.

you don't have to go to starbucks, if you don't want to... but there's a real nice starbucks beside CCP, place is called Harbour View... tables are fronting Manila Bay and it's really really quite there from 10:30 to 4:00 pm. I usually consume a tall brewed coffee there and the staff did not mind me staying there for a while since there is not much customers during those times... but before you start your review, I suggest you take a 265-item assessment test, print the result, & identify your strengths & weaknesses... but I don't suggest you start w/ your weakest link, start from the beginning (i.e. Fundamentals, then Growth & Dev't, followed by complicated OB/Pedia, MS, Psych, then Pharma) or you may want to use the NCSBN module as a guide... I put pharma at the last part because I wanted to make sure that they were the freshest info in my mind when I took the exam, besides, I already encountered a lot of drugs when I was studying the other diseases/systems... the other thing that I did was, I never let new diseases/drugs pass w/o knowing what they were... and I encountered a lot of them during the exam! I also did not let myself move on w/o getting a grade of >80% in 100-item practice test & 75% in a 265-item test... it took me 3 months to prepare for NCLEX and 50 minutes to finish in 75 items, not to mention US$ 750 in expenses

wow thank you for advice, i really appreciate it! yah, i know that place, i've been there before and i love that place but it's quite far from my home,,hehehe:lol2: so i think i need to find another place here in QC..:balloons:
