Broad Context - SPOR EA has funded a Scoping Review and Knowledge Mobilization to research existing cost analysis studies comparing long term-care beds operated in institutional settings and equivalent operations of long-term care beds in family caregiving settings (family homes, home-based). This work is due to be completed not later than March, 2025.

This proposal seeks to initiate a learning process with family caregivers to share their lived experience in relation to the findings from the Scoping Review. Our goal with this proposal is to produce short documentaries of family caregivers' lived experience to be part of the Knowledge Mobilization event where the results from the Scoping Review will be presented.
Our purpose for highlighting family caregivers' lived experience in the context of the Scoping Review is the issue of erasure of family caregivers' work from health care research and reports that are used to validate policies to move long-term care, and also, more recently, acute care, from institutional settings to family home settings without evidence-based data to ensure adequate, sustainable supports and resources (Facility, Supply, Labour) flow to the caregiving home. In the absence of these supports, we are seeing a massive transfer of healthcare cost to millions of family caregivers.
At present, we need a community-based non-profit organization to serve as an institutional partner through which our research team can apply for funds and operate our project.

Funding to document and produce the arts-based narrative inquiry process for presentations, and mini-documentary Youtube series
Funding to bring these 10 family caregiver volunteers to the SPOR EA Scoping Review - Knowledge Mobilization Event and present their short documentary as part of the program
Support to seek funding to produce a scalable arts-based narrative inquiry project to create a full length film documentary and a tv documentary series of family caregivers' lived experience in relation to current research knowledge
