Prior to GreenBiz, Michelle was a Sustainability Specialist at an electrical manufacturer where she worked on product transparency and sustainability through intergrating eco-design and circular economy principles into new product development.

Cielo Sharkus

About: Cielo is a PhD candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She uses hydrodynamic modeling, spatial analysis, and risk assessment tools to study how the socioeconomic landscape impacts exposure and adaptation to climate hazards. Cielo has been actively involved in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. She has served as a diversity, equity, and inclusion fellow at the Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center and currently holds the position of Diverse Knowledge Systems Fellow at the National Climate Adaptation Science Center. Additionally, she has worked as a National Science Foundation Research Trainee at the Energy Transition Institute of UMass Amherst. Beyond her research commitments, Cielo is a passionate leader in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), where she serves as an advisor of the UMass undergraduate chapter and president and co-founder of the Western Massachusetts chapter. Presently, Cielo is supporting the United States Geological Survey in expanding efforts for diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and justice.

About: Reimagined Roots is an organic landscaping company specializing in a permacultural based approach to design, installation, and maintenance. Reimagined Roots helps homeowners and public groups transform their green spaces into productive, abundant ecosystems full of food, medicine, and native plants. Lucy specializes in design and education within the company's fight to revolutionize the American grass lawn. Her work facilitates positive change within the community by helping empower a large breadth of people through knowledge, resource sharing, and personalized hands-on support throughout the design, installation, maintenance, and enhancement processes.

Quantay (Q) Turner

About: Quontay Turner, also known as “Q,” is a multi-talented creative and entrepreneur. She is the owner and founder of Emerald City Plant Shop, New England’s First Black Owned plant shop. She has over ten years of experience in community organizing, event management, recruiting, and facilitation Reimagined Roots is an organic landscaping company specializing in a permaculture based approach to design, installation and maintenance. Q loves building connections and sharing resources with those new to the Boston area as one of the lead organizers of the Boston Young Black Professionals (YBP), whose mission is to curate more space for professionals of color to fully enjoy all that Greater Boston has to offer. She is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated and a native of Mattapan who is passionate about creating a more inclusive and connective community for all. 

Wes Tse

About: Tse had been called to assist in natural disaster or humanitarian crisis. The Coquitlam resident has already served in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Philippines, volunteering for either Samaritan's Purse, a Christian relief organization, or Engineers Mission International, a group that provides sustainable safe water and sanitation solutions for people in developing countries. With this kind of background, plus his paid work as a project manager, Tse is sought after for his training and expertise.

Martin Wolf

About: Martin Wolf is responsible for ensuring the design of sustainable products at Seventh Generation, Inc, a manufacturer and distributor of ecological household and personal care products. He is also responsible for creating a more sustainable business model and for creating more sustainable systems of commerce. Mr. Wolf brings over 40 years of experience in industrial and environmental chemistry to his work, starting with environmental fate and metabolism studies for agricultural chemicals, followed by studies of the occurrence of hazardous chemicals in the environment, conducting life cycle studies of product systems, and designing more sustainable household cleaning products.
