What is the Career Fair VIP Program?

This program is designed to get you ready for the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technology Career Fair! These workshops and events will provide you with the tips and training you need to be successful in your search for an internship, co-op, or full time job!

Students who complete the Career Fair VIP Program will be invited to a Networking Breakfast with employers before the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technology Career Fair!

How does it work?

1. Pick up a Career Fair VIP Card from Brevard 215

2. Complete five of the tasks listed on the card

3. See the schedule below for more details about meeting times and locations for VIP Workshops

4. Return the completed card to Brevard 215 by Friday, September 13 at 5:00pm

Students who earn VIP Status will be notified on Monday, September 16

Resumes 101: Do you need ideas to freshen up your resume or do you need to build a resume from scratch? This workshop will help you build or improve your resume! Presenter: Dia Buchanan, UM Career Center

Senior Forum (DOOR PRIZES): Attend senior forum to learn about degree applications, diploma applications, and commencement. Limited to seniors planning to graduate in the next calendar year. Presenters: School of Engineering Dean's Office

Co-op Panel and Cookout: Interested in learning more about co-op? Join our recent co-op students to hear about their experiences! This event is limited to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Presenters: Former Co-op Students--final list coming soon!

Acing the Interview: From the first meeting at the career fair to your final in person interview, learn more about the interview process and how to close the deal on your dream job! Topics include: networking, video and phone interviews, and follow up. Presenters: Ellie Moore, Writing and Rhetoric and EJ Presley, UM Career Center

Resumania: Stop by the Carrier Hall lobby to have your resume critiqued on the spot! Career Center staff members will be on site to offer suggestions and make edits to your resume! Please bring a hard copy of your resume.

Resume Critique: Have the UM Career Center (Martindale 303) look over your resume and make suggested changes. Bring verification from the Career Center to Brevard 215 to receive credit on your VIP Card.

Update your Handshake Profile: Complete all appropriate fields on your profile, upload an updated resume and a photo.

Update LinkedIn Account (include photo) + Follow UM School of Engineering Page: Update your LinkedIn Profile (should look similar to your Handshake profile) and follow the new UM School of Engineering Page.

Follow the UM School of Engineering on 2 of 3 Platforms (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram): Include your username/handle for each account on your VIP card for verification.
