COACHES

Head Coach - Robert Zanatta

Mr. Zanatta has been the head coach of the St. Charles College Cardinals since 2006-07. In that time he has won 7 city championships, 5 NOSSA Championships, appeared at 6 OFSAA championships, and his team has finished with either a gold or silver medal in the city final 14 out of 15 seasons. A St. Charles College graduate, Mr. Zanatta emphasizes tradition and excellence above all else. Mr. Zanatta teaches Physical Education and Civics, and is also the program leader for Religion and Social Sciences.

Assistant Coach - Darren Michelutti

Mr. Michelutti has been with the St. Charles College coaching staff since the 2008-09 season. From his experiences playing AAA and Jr. A hockey as a defenceman, he has been invaluable to the team with his coaching tactics and strategies. Mr. Michelutti has won 8 city championships, 3 NOSSA championships, and appeared at 4 OFSAA Championships. A St. Charles College graduate, Mr. Michelutti teaches Physical Education and is also the program leader for Physical Education and Athletics. He also is the lead instructor for the Hockey Canada Skills Academy offered at St. Charles College.

Assistant Coach - Casey Thompson

Mr. Thompson has been with the St. Charles College coaching staff since the 2007-08 season. Mr. Thompson's knowledge of the goaltending position has allowed the Cardinals to develop strong goaltenders throughout his tenure. Mr. Thompson has won 8 city championships, 4 NOSSA championships, and appeared at 5 OFSAA Championships. Playing his minor hockey in Sault Ste. Marie, Mr. Thompson relocated to Sudbury for University. Mr. Thompson teaches Physical Education and also runs the Outdoor Education program at SCC. He also is an instructor for the Hockey Canada Skills Academy offered at St. Charles College.

Manager - Shawn Pitfield

Shawn, affectionately known as "Pitter", has been with the St. Charles coaching staff since 1992-93. In his time with the team, Shawn has won 17 city championships and 11 NOSSA championships, and gone to 6 OFSAA championships. He is the emotional leader of the team and is beloved by the players.

Trainer - Ryan Liinamaa

Ryan has been with the St. Charles College coaching staff since the 2014-15 season. Ryan is the former captain of the Cardinals and was a stand-out defenceman for 4 seasons. As a player he won 3 city championships and 1 NOSSA championship, as a coach he has won 4 city championships and 2 NOSSA championships. A graduate of the Sport and Physical Education program at Laurentian University, Ryan joined the SCC teaching staff full time in the fall of 2021.
