Harvest Fest 2024
By Anna Drapa
When October rolls around, the season has many fun things in store: Halloween, pumpkin patches, and sweater weather, just to name a few. But for the Band and PAE (Performing Arts Ensemble), October means one of the most exciting points of the fall season; their first concert, also known as Harvest Fest.
“Harvest Fest a combination of two events. The first part is a fall showcase concert featuring the 6th grade band, PAE, and the combined 7th/8th grade band also referred to as marching band. The second part is a fundraiser dinner to help raise money for our band and choir program,” Mr. Makropolous, the band director shared.
Harvest Fest is set for October 25th this year, at 5:30-6:00 for the PAE and 6th grade band, while 7th and 8th grade band performs at 6:20-6:50. Harvest Fest will be held in the Palos South gym. Sixth grade band’s program has a medieval theme, including songs such as The Crusaders and Shadowfire. Seventh grade and eighth grade bands will have a combined performance, featuring songs including the Star-Spangled Banner, the Stagg Fight song, the Hey Song, Shut up and Dance, the Armed Forces March, What Makes you Beautiful, the Bluey theme, and the Spiderman theme.
Besides a night of music, there will be a pasta dinner and dessert from Capri, Split-the-Pot, and t-shirts. All profits benefit the District 118 music programs.
“My favorite part of Harvest Fest is having members of the community all gathered to hear the results of the hard work done by our band students.” Mr. Makropolous adds.
