FAQ
1. Does the app require an iPhone to be nearby to trigger the alarm?
No. Cardiac Alarm is a standalone Apple Watch application. It monitors your heart rate and triggers the emergency alarm directly from your watch, even if your iPhone is not nearby or is turned off.
2. Will the alarm sound if my watch is on Silent or Do Not Disturb mode?
Yes. By authorizing Critical Alerts during setup, the app is permitted to bypass your device's silent settings. This ensures the high-volume alarm will sound at maximum volume during a critical event.
3. What specific events trigger the emergency alarm?
The alarm is triggered only when the sensors detect and confirm one of three specific events: a pulse drop below 33 BPM, a zero reading, or a complete loss of sensor signal (e.g., if the watch is not positioned correctly on the wrist).
4. How can I be sure the alarm is working?
The app includes a built-in Test Mode. This allows you to set a temporary, safe threshold (between 50–80 BPM) to verify that the high-volume alarm triggers correctly and to familiarize yourself and those around you with the alert sound.
5. Is Cardiac Alarm a medical device?
No. Cardiac Alarm is a monitoring and alerting tool intended for informational purposes only. It is not a medical device, nor a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or clinical monitoring. Always consult a physician for medical concerns.
