Welcome to Card Hive ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application, Card Hive (the "App").
Our core principle is privacy by design. The App is designed to be a secure, offline wallet for your payment card information. All of your data is stored exclusively on your own device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
2. Information We Collect
The App allows you to store the following information, which you provide voluntarily:
Financial Information: Card Number, Card Holder Name, Expiry Date, and CVV.
Card Metadata: A custom name for your card (e.g., "Personal Savings").
This information is collected in two ways:
Manually: When you type the details into the "Add Card" form.
Via Camera Scan: When you use the card scanning feature, which uses your camera to read and populate the details automatically.
3. How We Use Your Information
The information you provide is used solely for the following purposes:
To Store and Display Your Data: To securely store your card details on your device so you can access them conveniently.
To Provide App Functionality: To enable features like viewing card details after biometric authentication.
4. Data Storage, Security, and Transmission
This is the most important section of our policy.
Local Storage Only: All information you enter into Card Hive is stored exclusively on your device's local storage.
No Server Transmission: We do not have servers, and your card information is never sent, uploaded, or backed up to us or any third party. Your data stays in your hands.
Encryption: We use Flutter's flutter_secure_storage package to protect your data. This package leverages hardware-backed, platform-specific security features for encryption:
On Android, it uses the Android Keystore.
On iOS, it uses the Keychain Services. This means your data is encrypted at rest using the strongest security your device offers.
5. Data Sharing and the Clipboard
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal or financial information with any third parties.
The only instance where data leaves the App's secure container is when you explicitly choose to use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature. When you copy your card number, it is placed on your device's system clipboard. Please be aware that other applications on your device may be able to access data on the clipboard. We recommend you use this feature responsibly.
6. App Permissions
We only request permissions that are essential for the App's functionality:
Camera Permission: This is required only for the card scanning feature. The App processes the camera feed in real-time to recognize text. No photos or videos are ever stored by the App or transmitted anywhere.
Biometric Permission (Face ID/Fingerprint): This is used only to authenticate you and grant you access to your securely stored card details within the App. Your biometric information is managed by your device's operating system and is never accessed, stored, or transmitted by our App.
7. Third-Party Services (Analytics & Crash Reporting)
To improve the stability and performance of our App, we may use third-party services like Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase. These services help us understand crashes and analyze usage patterns.
The data collected is anonymous and non-personally identifiable (e.g., device type, OS version, session duration, and crash logs). This data does not include any of your personal or financial information and is used solely for the purpose of improving the App. For more information, you can review Google's Privacy Policy.
8. Your Control and Data Rights
You have complete control over your data within Card Hive. You can:
Access your stored cards at any time.
Add new cards.
Delete any or all of your cards at any time. Deleting a card permanently removes it from your device's storage.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the App or on our App Store listing. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
