Overview
Card Comp is a Chrome extension that helps users research sports-card prices by searching eBay for sold, completed, and active listings. This policy explains how Card Comp handles information.
Information Card Comp Handles
Card Comp handles website content only when the user deliberately activates the extension. This may include:
• A screenshot of the visible portion of the active browser tab.
• The portion of that screenshot selected by the user for an image search.
• Search terms typed by the user.
• Temporary search status and tab identifiers used to reuse Card Comp and eBay tabs.
How Information Is Used
The visible-tab screenshot is stored locally in the user's browser so the user can select a card. The selected image or typed search terms are sent to eBay over HTTPS only when the user initiates a search. Card Comp uses this information solely to perform the requested image or text search, apply relevant listing filters, and display price information from the visible eBay results.
Data Storage and Retention
Card Comp does not operate its own server or database. Screenshots, selected images, search status, and tab identifiers are stored locally through Chrome's storage system. Images and temporary status information are overwritten or removed during later capture and search operations. Users can remove locally stored extension data by uninstalling Card Comp or clearing the extension's data in Chrome.
Data Sharing
Card Comp does not sell user data. Card Comp does not transfer user data for advertising, analytics, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to its single purpose. A selected image or typed query is transmitted to eBay only to complete the search requested by the user. eBay's handling of information is governed by eBay's own privacy policy.
Security
Card Comp transmits selected images and search requests to eBay using HTTPS. All executable code is included within the extension package; Card Comp does not execute remotely hosted code.
Children's Privacy
Card Comp is not designed to collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated if Card Comp's features or data practices change. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
