For cars older than 4 years, rust is a constant danger. Rust can cause damage at any time, and if it is left to fester, can be costly to repair. Rust occurs when water collects between the rubber seals around your car's doors, wheels arches, bonnets, and boots. Sometimes, rust can be hard to see especially if it is hidden behind the wheel arch (which happens most often), or behind the rubber seal on the window pane.
It is best to spend at least 10 minutes per week inspecting the most vulnerable areas. Then, clean the seals and allow the water to run off. These areas include the wheel arches, lower door sections, window frames, locks/handles, and wheels. You can even put grease around the seals to create an extra barrier between paintwork and water Scratch Repair.
