Introduction

Captio ("we", "our", "the app") is a video subtitle generator developed by codeBage. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Data processed locally (on your device):

• Videos you select from your device gallery

• Audio extracted from videos for speech-to-text processing

• Subtitle text generated by the Whisper AI model

• Subtitle styling preferences and project data

This data stays on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Data sent to third-party services:

• Google Gemini API: When you use the translation feature, subtitle text is sent to Google's Gemini API for translation. This data is processed according to Google's privacy policy.

• Google AdMob: We display advertisements through Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers, IP address, and usage data for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.

• Google Play In-App Review: We may prompt you to rate the app using Google Play's review API after multiple uses.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not create user accounts

• We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone)

• We do not upload your videos to any server

• We do not store your data on any cloud server

• We do not track your location

How Your Data Is Stored

All project data (videos, subtitles, preferences) is stored locally on your device using Android's app storage. When you uninstall the app, all data is automatically deleted.

Speech-to-Text Processing

Subtitle generation uses OpenAI's Whisper model running entirely on your device. Your audio is never sent to any server for transcription. The AI model is downloaded once and works offline.

Translation

When you translate subtitles, the subtitle text (not your video or audio) is sent to Google's Gemini API over an encrypted connection. Google's privacy policy applies to this data: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Advertising

We use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect:

• Device advertising ID

• IP address

• General usage data
