About Your Captain

I have been a USCG Licensed Master Captain since October 2020. I have been sailing since 2005 on boats as small as 11 feet, to ferry around in Oceanside Harbor, to as large as a 68 ft. charter vessel (24 GRT) in San Diego Bay and Near Coastal (200 mi). I am 62 years old and retired, taking on captain work and marine solutions part time because it is something that I enjoy.

In 2022, I started my own Limited Liability Company (LLC), Captain Rom LLC, and currently function as a sole proprietor of the company.

I have access to a large network of boats, power and sail; however, my real desire is sailing. The fascination of the wind being your only propulsion and the marine environment with all it has to offer is mesmerizing. I have sailed in Mexico waters from the United States Border to Cabo San Lucas, to La Paz in the Sea of Cortez.

I am also very patient and enjoy teaching others how to sail. Showing my guests, the subtle nuances and sharing the fascination I have with the sea. I am honest, loyal, enjoyable to be around, and I have integrity. I am not into racing but enjoy the casual cruise and the low stress environment.
