Imagine waking up tomorrow and finding that the Government has banned your favorite social media app, decided what clothes you are allowed to wear, and picked your future job for you. Technology and Government control refers to how much power a Government has over the rules of another country or within their own rules that no one else has proper control of. Typically, Governments want to gain control of a country’s regulations that affect everyday society to ensure societal stability and for a profit.  For example in countries with totalitarian or authoritarian rulers, the Government controls everything including a person's private life. While places like the US use taxes and laws to keep people safe and to fix problems, the citizens get a lot of personal freedom. Many countries like to implement technology into their Governments which have a lot more power and also make it incredibly convenient. Because most countries like to innovate with technology and power to gain control of their Government, countries do not take into consideration the people when introducing laws and the people believe it's unfair that we can't get anything done to change it.

One factor of technology and Government control is taking economic opportunities on certain investments which can grow your economy and expand your power. An example of this is when the president of the United States had the option between two different corporations which he would choose which he believed would help fuel the Government’s  economy and shape their country as a whole. Josh Boak states in a AP news article that, “Trump sees opportunities in preserving legacy brand companies such as Intel and possibly making a tidy profit for Uncle Sam. The Republican president views the investments as critical for economic security and emblematic of his own dealmaking skills” (Boak). Boak highlights Donald Trump's perspective on only using certain investment opportunities to strengthen the power in the Government. He only uses certain investments like Intel because of what he thinks is best under his control as the president. This is an example of an authoritarian Government because of how only Trump believes what is right for the company when he would rather choose a high tech industry instead of a failing airlines business which had fallen into bankruptcy. Because of international events, high expenditures have led spirit airlines to lose their ability to operate. Trump also believes these big corporations are crucial to compete closely with other rivals. Boak also writes that, “Trump aides say his interventions are necessary to compete against China’s industrial heft, yet the president has frequently tethered corporate America to his administration” (Boak). Boak demonstrates how the Government invests and interacts with private businesses as a way to gain control and more power to come close with countries like China. Trump's reasons for choosing Intel was mostly because of strengthening and gaining more power in the Government, but not keeping in mind the people of the USA. Overall, the Government’s central point is on their future economics to gain more control and power over their land and to compete with ours, rather than focusing on the people.

The Government has also altered or introduced new laws and regulations that feel strict to the public. In the recent article titled, ‘Palpably Frightening’: Roe v. Wade Reversal Grants More Control to Government, Antionette Stephen argues against the controversial Supreme Court decision, which implemented the new rule for banning abortion between a specific time period. She explains, “From a foreigner’s perspective, the fact that the highest court in the U.S. overturned a nearly 50-year-old court decision is palpably frightening” (Stephen). Stephen explains how after 50 years the Supreme Court has altered their decision on abortion and is now affecting many people's lives. People feel as if this will guarantee their freedom isn't in their control as the Government allows these regulations. The people feel ashamed for the Government for not doing their job correctly and feel the need to speak about it. Stephen shares, “To the morality police, I ask, where are the tougher laws on child abuse, rape, domestic violence and sexual harassment?” (Stephen). Stephen demonstrates how important the Government should be focused on ways for keeping the people united in ways that strengthen the country, but keeps its focus on adding stricter laws on how women should be controlling their bodies. This demonstrates how the Government is dishonest, making families debate whether or not they support the Government. In Chain-Gang All-Stars we see explicit bias against the prisoners when the owners of the games have altered how the ending will be. Micky Wright announces, “The new rule, which I’ve been told will be effective immediately, as season thirty-three of Chang Gang All-Stars have just begun, is that no single Chain may contain two Colossal-ranking Links” (Adjei-Brenyah 384). Adjei-Brenyah explains the sudden change of the rules when the hungry money owners who control everything would rather see a more entertaining way for the last person standing to win. In their decisions, they had no mercy for Thurwar or Staxxx as their lives were on the line and only wanted to give the audience a more exciting experience for them to gain a profit.

Most people think that the Government makes regulations fairly because the Government knows what's right for society. They believe regulations about technology can protect people from danger, crime, and harmful information online. But, too much control can be unjustifiable for the public. Many people who believe in their own God given rights feel they have less personal freedom when the Government restricts the public. Even though rules are necessary for safety, people should still have the right to make their own choices without technology being an excessive Government interference. In the article titled, “The Policy Circle”, it explains the pros and cons for regulations when it says, “Regulations affect the everyday lives of Americans in inconspicuous and also obvious ways. Regulations may seem, at the outset, to diminish choice or freedom, like which vehicle you can purchase in California after 2035” (The Policy Circle). It demonstrates how Government regulations can be very impactful to people's lives and it's like stripping away someone’s personal choices just to make room for the Government to decide. It makes it unfair because of how it forces people to change against their will. When regulations enter our society, it also affects small businesses because many firms cannot handle the immense pressure. It states, “A Mercatus study found “that as complication in regulation grew, there was a decline…in the number of small firms; the increase in complication of regulation did not affect large firms” except for an association with a decrease in hiring among all firms” (The Policy Circle). This explains how Government rules can be more harmful towards smaller businesses because they can not afford the high cost. Meanwhile, large corporations aren’t affected by these regulations because they already have enough money and legal terms to handle. This creates an uneven playing field as some companies adapt better than others. In Chang Gang All-Stars, many protest the events as they see what's right for the prisoners, instead of fighting for a chance of freedom. Tracy Lasser announces, “I stand in solidarity with those around the country who have demonstrated again so-called hard action sports. I support the repeal of B3 and also called hard Action Sports just as I support ending the death penalty” (Adjei-Brenyah 113). Adjei-Brenyah demonstrates Tracy’s bravery as she shared her opinion on her first television job and spoke out about the program. She speaks her opinion about the program's regulations and how she disagrees most of what will affect the prisoners' fates. Overall, Government rules and regulations don't leave an impact on every person and business because everyone reacts differently against change.

The final example of technology and Government control is not taking into consideration the people of the nation and the belief that some people don't deserve fair treatment. In the article, Hiding the Truth: Political Influence in the Media, many US prison systems have let the  Coronavirus pandemic sneak their way though into many prisons, putting incarcerated people’s lives on the line. Sometimes, these prisons spend no time preparing safety precautions as they feel it’s unnecessary. Shafer writes, “There have been alarming rates of death and infections Most of the prisons in the U.S., including the Bureau of Prisons, did very little to prepare or combat the infections until facility staff and correctional officers began to suffer the effects of the pandemic” (Shafer). This reveals prisons dehumanizing prisoners as they neglected a dangerous virus and do barely any precautions or any safety measures to prevent prisoners from dying. It has come to this point where the Government only focuses on the correctional officers and those who work there. The citizens in society have more eye from the Government rather than incarcerated people because the Government believe they aren’t ready to reenter society 

“In the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, efforts to stop the spread were severely deficient in comparison to what was being done in free society” (Shafer). Shafer explains the importance because of how they lack the ability to effectively stop the virus from outbreaking inside the prisons and it explains how they do a worse job than society as a whole. Society outside of prison has been focused on more instead of integrating precautions for outbreak rather than prisoners because they are neglected by the Government. In Chain-Gang All-Stars, We see the program not taking into consideration the horrified event of killing a protester for entering without permission. Rather than escorting the protester out of the arena, they decided to kill in cold blood for stepping foot on the battlefield in front of the entire audience. “And the entire Stadium could see one of the officers pulled a weapon that looked like a gun from his side and shot with black rod into Mari's neck. And the entire Stadium saw his Mari was influenced” (Adjei-Brenyah 371). Adjei-Brenyah explains how they publicly shot in front of a huge audience for protesting the match and interrupting the time of schedule. The prison system also uses advanced technology such as the black rods which acts as a torture device to inflict harm on people that jeopardize the hard action sports. Overall, both the USA and the program have both not taken situations as expected as the USA had no interest in preparing prisons for the outbreak of covid and the program eliminating a protester.

In conclusion, Technology in Government control can have both positive and negative effects on society, but too much control can limit persons freedom in individuality. You should care about technology and Government control because a Government’s power can directly shape an individual's future. I believe in a Government that is shaped by the people and everyone has a perspective on how they want to control themselves. The American Government shares publicly how they are for the people, but they sign regulations that feel controversial. The people need a Government that empathizes with the problems of people in the land of the free. With technology and control entering our society, the people of the nation have felt like it jeopardized their rights on how  people’s lives are bound to unfair regulations set by the Government.
