History

The Tallahassee Classical Conversations Latin Club was started in the 2011-12 school year. While only a handful of students participated at first, the club quickly grew and has been able to perform well in regional, state, and national competitions over the years.

At the start of the 2024-25 year, our club's name was changed to Capital City JCL to reflect our broader reach within Tallahassee's homeschooling community.

2026-27 Officers & Sponsors

Co-Consul Madeline Carlan

Madeline is a high school senior passionate about many different things, including music, art, reading, law, and classical culture. Her favorite part of the JCL is the vast community and the different types of competitions.

Co-Consul Clara Dean

Clara is in twelfth grade and is excited to be an officer this year. She loves the Latin language and likes to translate Disney songs into Latin for fun.

Historian Meredith Ream

Meredith "Trey" Ream is in ninth grade. Her favorite part of Latin club is the people and all the laughter we share together. Outside of Latin, she is a massive Formula 1 fan, she loves doing crafts, and she enjoys hanging out with her family.

Technology Coordinator (Tech Co) Cecily Dean

Cecily is currently in ninth grade. She enjoys playing the viola and practicing taekwondo when she's not updating this very website or playing Certamen.

Co-Sponsor Amanda Dean

Mrs. Dean is in her third year as Latin Club Sponsor. She enjoys reading and quilling.

Co-Sponsor Becky Ream

Mrs. Ream has been hanging out with the FJCL for over a decade. She loves promoting enthusiasm and encouraging competition in her kids. She also loves to knit.
