What is a High School Skating team?
Similar to collegiate skating, the high school program offers skaters the opportunity to compete on a team for their high school. Several states/regions host a high school series and a state final, and any high school team is eligible to enter the U.S. Figure Skating National High School Cyber Challenge or Sectional High School Finals.
Capitol Skaters is a group of skaters from a combination of Northern Virginia/Washington DC/Maryland high Schools.
How do I participate? What about my High School?
To participate, skaters must be members of U.S. Figure Skating and enrolled full-time in a high school. Home-schooled skaters are also eligible. There are no test requirements.

I already skate with a coach, why do I need a Team?
Capitol Skaters does not replace your current coach/coaches, practice schedule, or home rink. Our coach is not , but instead there to guide and support them. Our skaters lead the team. Capitol Skaters is an opportunity to learn leadership skills, be social and engage with other high school skaters. Practices and all activities are optional. They are social, fun, and full of team spirit!
