Wednesday, 14 October 2026, 7:00 pm. Author and systems thinker Jeremy Lent explores how we might move from an extractive society towards an ecological civilisation grounded in interconnection, regeneration and the common good.

His vision of “islands of coherence” asks how locally rooted communities can become connected centres of transformation. His bioregional approach is particularly relevant to water: rivers, aquifers and watersheds are understood not simply as resources to exploit, but as part of the living commons to which we belong.

Although this event takes place after the Season of Creation, it is included in the Living Waters Calendar because Lent’s thinking opens important questions about water, community, ecological regeneration and how local initiatives — including faith communities — might help build a more life-affirming future.

Jeremy Lent is an author and speaker whose work investigates the underlying causes of our civilization's existential crisis and explores pathways toward a life-affirming future. His new book, Ecocivilization: Making a World that Works for All (May 2026, Melville House).
