On Ground Canvas Competencies

Using Canvas to teach an on ground face to face class is a great way to enhance your teaching effectiveness and provide equitable resources to students during and after class. Teachers need to be aware of two areas of competnecy according to state laws, federal laws and ACCJC regulations.

The OEI Course Design Rubric is used as a guiding rubric to demonstrate what teaching standards are expected of faculty who use Canvas.

Areas to focus on are organization of shells, and making an accessible course shell.

When faculty have taken the courses, and created a course shell that is in compliance, faculty will then email the Distance Education Department to have the Distance Education Faculty Coordinator and the Faculty Course Review Committee review the shell.
