Frequently Asked Questions

What is the race format of the Canmore Revolver?

Race solo or team up with 1 or 2 friends and take on an epic 5-hour challenge! Your mission: complete as many 6 km laps as you can in just 5 hours, with the clock ticking down from 9 am to 2 pm. The top female and male, as well as the first place team in each division, will claim victory and take home some epic awards. Laps must be completed to count towards your total. If you’re neck-and-neck with another racer or team, the tie-breaker will come down to the time it took to finish those laps. Get ready to push yourself to the limit!

When and where does the Canmore Revolver take place?

Mark your calendars! The race will kick off at 9 am on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at the breathtaking Canmore Nordic Centre Stadium (right behind the Main Lodge), and the action will wrap up at 2 pm. Get ready to experience a race like no other in the heart of the Canadian Rockies!

When is race package pickup?

Your race essentials await! Pickup your package on race day morning between 7:15 am and 8:30 am. Be ready to fuel up and set yourself for adventure!

Where can I find the Canmore Revolver race course?

The race course map and GPX file can be found on the Course page. Study up, prepare, and get ready to conquer every twist and turn!

When does race registration close?

Time’s ticking- don’t miss out! Registration closes at midnight on June 14th.

What is the age requirement for participants?

You’ll need to be at least 16 years old to join the fun. If you’re old enough to tackle the challenge, we’ll see you on the course!

Will there be finish line medals?

Based on past feedback we will not have finish line medals. However there will be a finisher swag item to commemorate your race!

What happens if I/my team doesn't complete the last lap we are on by 2 pm?

Every second counts! If you don’t finish the last lap by 2 pm, it won’t count towards your total lap tally.

Where can I park on race day?

Parking is available at the Canmore Nordic Centre, but don’t forget your Kananaskis Conservation Pass! You’ll need one to park at the venue, so make sure to grab yours online here before race day.

Will there be food or water stations along the course?

A well-stocked aid station will be waiting for you at the Canmore Nordic Centre Stadium on each lap. Hydrate, refuel, and get back out there!

Do I need to have any special equipment for the race?

This is a race through the wild, so safety first! All racers must carry bear spray while on the course - this is a requirement of the Canmore Nordic Centre. We’ll check at the start line, and if you’re not prepared, you won’t be able to race. Stay safe and be ready for anything! If you're participating as a relay team, one bear spray can be shared across all team members.

Is the course suitable for beginners or only experienced runners?

Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned pro, this course is designed for adventurers of all levels. Come ready to challenge yourself, no matter your experience!

How do I track my laps during the race?

Race timing and lap tracking will be handled by our timing provider Zone4.

Can I volunteer for the event?

Want to be part of the action but don’t want to race? We’re always looking for volunteers! If you’re ready to help make the event a success, sign up to volunteer here. We’d love to have you on the team!

Can I bring my pet to the race?

Your furry friends are welcome to cheer you on from the sideline! Unfortunately, we cannot allow them on course.

Will there be a place to set up some chairs and a tent?

You bet - there will be an area within the Stadium where you can set up chairs, a tent and anything else you need.

Are spectators allowed to watch the race?

Bring your fans! Spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer on racers as they conquer the course. The more energy, the better!

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens, we get it! While we cannot offer refunds, we will allow for deferrals to next years event or transfers to another athlete if you have someone that wants your place. You just need to let us know by June 14th, 2026 by sending an email to events@rnestendurance.com

What if it’s smoky or the weather is bad?

We love a good mountain challenge - but running through heavy smoke isn’t one of them! If wildfire smoke pushes the Air Quality Index (AQI) above 8, the event will not run for everyone’s safety. Please note that no refunds will be issued in this case, as event costs are already committed by race day. We appreciate your understanding and shared commitment to keeping the Canmore Revolver safe, adventurous, and sustainable for years to come.

In the case of weather disruptions we may shorten or change the event to accommodate athletes. In the case of heavy rain, we may change our course to alternative trails. We’ll always keep runners updated via email and social channels leading up to race day. Fingers crossed for clear skies and fresh alpine air!

What happens if I litter?

Leave no trace! We follow strict guidelines to protect the natural beauty of the Canmore Nordic Centre. If you’re caught littering, you’ll be disqualified from the race. Let’s keep the wild wild!
