I, Magi Sontag, am an occupational therapy doctoral student at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. My passion for animal-assisted therapy (AAT) led me to complete my capstone project at TREE House of Greater St. Louis, where I focused on improving motor skills through canine-assisted interventions. I discovered the positive effects of the human-animal bond after adopting my first dog from a local shelter in 2016. I was inspired by the joy and smiles that my dog, Remi, brought to others and decided to begin volunteering as a therapy dog team. I plan to continue pursuing my passion of incorporating AAT into occupational therapy after graduation. I developed this resource with the aim to support professionals and students who are interested in introducing therapy dogs into their practice.
