TITLE: MEDICAL OFFICER III
I. Basic Purpose
a. To diagnose the health condition of and administer treatment to patients under general supervision
II. Organizational Scope
a. Section: Medical Division: Department of Family and Community Medicine
b. Reports to: Medical Officer IV, Medical Specialist II and III
c. Supervises: PGI and Medical Clerks
III. Major Responsibilities
a. Attends to emergency calls on field
b. Performs medical examinations and requests for diagnostic work-ups or laboratory examinations as needed to diagnose health ailments
c. Assists and or performs surgical operations within own limitations as determined by the Chief of Hospital or Department Head
d. Conducts daily rounds to observe the progress and condition of their patients
e. Prescribes medicine and treatment procedures and techniques within his or her field of specialization
f. Seeks information for treating difficult and complicated medical cases through consultation with supervising officers
g. Disseminates information during medical conferences
h. Accomplishes relevant medical documentation such as clinical records upon admission and discharge of patients as well as medical, legal, birth, or death certificates
i. Educates medical and paramedical students, trains, and mentors medical students, externs, and intern physicians on a particular field of medicine
j. Attends to medico-legal cases and responds to court calls
k. Conducts and participates in hospital research projects
l. Ensures completeness of relevant medical documentation
m. Performs other related function as may be assigned

a. Education: Doctor of Medicine
b. Eligibility: TA 1080
c. Training: 4 hours or more of relevant training

Faculty Evaluation
1. Faculty Evaluation by Chairman - the consultants are evaluated by the Department Chairman semestrally using the Individual Performance Commitment Review (IPCR).
2. Peer evaluation will be done annually.
3. Resident’s evaluation will also be done annually.
