Technical Field
The project revolves around a main focus of advertising, but the twist is that there will be small amounts of game development knowledge that will be dumped into a small, short, demo project of the game.
Background Information
The major inspiration for this project is pretty simple. I wanted to utilize my dad's business as an anchor for the project, so the whole thing had to be food related. With a lot of different ways food has already been advertised, I thought of the main item, which was his all purpose seasoning. Originally, the idea was to create a video, simply comparing AI generated recipes to a man-made recipe that would most likely be better due to a list of reasons that came up after taste testing the dishes side by side. This idea was scrapped, and I decided to keep the same idea, but create a story and implement it into a game, similar to restaurant tycoon games, but with the added bit of story, specifically built to advertise my dad's spice and raise awareness of the possible dangers within the abuse of AI.
Prior Art (legal term)
Many other games have been released as restaurant tycoons, and some games have been created to promote a business. Some examples that are popular or are forgotten are, I Love You, Colonel Sanders, Bush's Bean Dash, and Papa's Pizzeria styled games. The first two were made to sell to a gaming audience in an attempt to keep up with interests at the time. The Papa's games are a line of games that work in a similar fashion to one another, though each one has their own type of restaurant, whether that be pizza, shakes, ice-cream, or burgers. The basic idea of promoting a business comes from the first two examples, wherein it has been done before, so it is not a farfetched idea. The third, essentially, set of games is the inspiration behind the gameplay. My idea to be different is to implement the methods in the effort to raise awareness of the overuse of AI in today's society.
Project Description
Food Fight is an idea that spun from a year's worth of careful thought and consideration of what idea could realistically be innovative. At the end of teh day, the restaurant tycoon idea came to mind. If I was able to advertise a product through a video game PSA, that would solidify my project plan. The game is as follows - The player will run a restaurant across the street from a competitor, but the business will be slow. As time goes on, the restaurant will lose more and more business and the player will be met with story along the way. Nearing the end, the competitor will be discovered to be using AI generated algorithms to cater to humans in a much more robotic way, eventually automating everything and making people unhealthy. The player will then be hit with better service and will have to use advertising to promote the restaurant to bring people in for real, authentic food to bring everyone back. This whole goal of this project is to advertise the all purpose seasoning, but also to function as a PSA.
Innovation Claim
This project gains its innovative status from the sole reason of it being a video game advertisement that is, not only this, but a way to act as a PSA to remind people of the dangers of modern powers like the example of Artificial Intelligence
Usage Scenario
The typical use of this game will be for personal reasons, and be used as a promotion for a product from a small business. There are many forms of entertainment out there that utilize their size to promote smaller businesses and movements. This is what I believe the project can turn into for more people, not only using the video game format for promoting products, but to be used as a PSA at the same time. It can also act as a PSA in the sense that, not only AI being an issue is tackled, but other issues in today's world.

Objectives and Tasks Associated with the Project
Apply the principles and elements of design to both online and offline deliverables.
This project will be utilizing the many aspects of design within the asset design for each individual part of the game, as well as utilizing every proper principle and element through the logo, branding, cohesive nature to it all, and more.
Leverage an understanding of human behavior and conditioning to influence choice and decision-making using innovative methods and systems.
This will be covered within the project, in the sense that the project will target emotions towards the increasing use of AI, as well as the abuse of it and the lasting effects it could have if people are not careful with it.
Follow branding guidelines for all visual communication to maintain a consistent and cohesive message through design and execution.
The guidelines that have been provided for this particular project will be followed when asking about the logo presentation of the product, as well as the overall representation of every asset as best as possible in one cohesive scene at all times.
Create 2D, 3D and multi-media assets that incorporate compelling story-telling for the promotion of people, products and organizations.
2D assets will be utilized for this project, but will be done using the knowledge gained for this specific objective, creating quality assets for use within the game that can be animated and moved around.
Demonstrate the ability to build quality content that includes video, photography, web design and visual effects using the most advanced digital tools for media consumption.
As stated before with quality, the quality will come from the uderstanding of design principles, wherein the character designs and the background designs for everything will keep with the same style, and have one based on research that will be done to find inspiration for the overall style.
Description of Design Prototype
The prototype that is in mind for this game is a demo game with minimal finalized designs, but a rough concept of the full game if it were to be greenlit at a studio and turned into something bigger. The story will be the main focus, but the gameplay cycle will be short for the most part.
Evaluation Plan
To complete the project with the given criteria, there will be a few things to lay out. The programming side of the project will take some more time to finalize and learn, so the main focus will be on the artistic side and advertising as well. The major aspects of the game that will be completed, for the most part, will be these. Programming will be more last minute, in the sense that it will be done last in the process of creating this prototype/demo game.
Project Completion Assessment
The exact completion status of the project as of now is 1%, as there are no physical aspects of it done, but the production will start on Monday, the 7th of July. This will provide more than enough time to work on the project and get to a point where it can be completed. As of now, the basic ideas are enough to ride on, and will push the motivational side of this project along smoothly in the end.
