My name is Xirui Wang. I am a third-year Film Studies student minoring Japanese Language and Culture at the University of British Columbia. I have been learning Japanese since my first year of college because of my interest in Japanese theater, film and anime since high school. I love singing Japanese songs and recently performed two of Shiina Ringo’s songs (Shuraba and Marunouchi Sadistic) onstage as the singer in a band of 6 members. Singing really helps to improve my Japanese pronunciation and vocabulary. I made this short video as part of my tadoku project in JAPN320 class with the guidance of my professor Abe Masumi sensei, who creates an engaging and delightful learning environment that really encourages me to know more about Japanese culture. My project partner Han did the voice-over for both the old man and mujina. We had a lot of fun in recording voice-over and creating the plot-twist. The whole process was really enjoyable and educating!
ようこそ、私の本の世界へ:「むじな」(小泉八雲), Xirui Wang, University of British Columbia
We are Mateo Nakao, Toma Leger, Kiril Diyanof and Lucy White. We study Japanese at Moncton Japanese Center. When we were told about the contest, we were so excited to make a video. At the first, we discussed which category to enter and we decided to introduce our city of Moncton. Each of us chose the place we like the most in Moncton.
Japanese school is every two weeks , so we had to work on it at home too. That was challenging for us. But it was so fun to bring our ideas together and to go out on a field trip to film. It made us very happy that this movie-like video was something that we conceived and made by ourselves. It is good that we could show our video to our grandparents, relatives and friends in Japan.
We want to keep learning Japanese and to know more about Japan. Also, we want to show good things about Canada to our Japanese family and friends.
Welcome to Moncton, Mateo Nakao, Toma Leger, Kiril Diyanof and Lucy White, Moncton Japanese Center
