We are both students studying at UBC. We came to know each other and began sharing our interests in Japan and the Japanese culture after sitting together in our Japanese language class! We decided to participate as we believe that it was a great way to show ourselves how much we have learned and improved! In spite of the amount of time it took us to draw the pictures we used in our video, the entire process was very fun, creative, and engaging. In the end, we felt very fulfilling! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to express our passion and thank you for awarding us the special prize. We are deeply honored to receive it! by: Peifen Hsieh, Lisa Xu.

My name is Shubhankar, and me and my team made a video about “Galpis”, a parody about the actual drink called Calpis. I stayed in Japan for 12 years before moving to Canada, and Calpis used to be one of my favourite drinks, so it was awesome that I was able to make a commercial for it. I met my teammates in my Japanese class at school, Art and Jason. The process of filming the commercial was long, but it was a lot of fun! Thank you to the Organizing committee for this opportunity!
