The app is also associated with a now-discontinued music streaming service, Groove Music Pass, which was supported across Windows, Xbox video game consoles, Windows Phone, as well as Android and iOS.[3] As of 2014[update], The Groove catalogue had over 50 million tracks.[4][5] Its subscription service Groove Music Pass was officially discontinued on December 31, 2017, and the Android and iOS versions of the Groove Music app were discontinued in December 2018, restricting the player to its native Microsoft Store base.

Microsoft had previously ventured into music services with its Zune brand. The Zune Music Marketplace included 11 million tracks. The line of Zune players and Zune music store were somewhat unsuccessful, and the brand was largely discontinued at the beginning of the 2010s, although it continued to exist on different devices and the Zune Music Pass offered unlimited access to songs for US$9.99 per month.[6]

On October 2, 2017, Microsoft announced that its subscription service, Groove Music Pass, and music purchases on Windows Store would be discontinued after December 31, 2017, leaving support for playing music stored locally and on OneDrive. At the same time, Microsoft began advertising the competing service Spotify, displaying a banner ad for the service within the Groove Music user interface,[12] and offering the ability to migrate music collections and playlists to Spotify. As a side effect of the discontinuation, on May 31, 2018, Microsoft additionally announced that the Groove Music apps for Android and iOS would also be discontinued and cease functioning on December 1, 2018, with users being redirected to Google Play Music and iTunes Match for similar cloud synchronization functionality (the OneDrive app still offered limited music playback functions within).[13][14]

Users' purchased music, and playlists consisting of songs available on the service could be synced through OneDrive and accessed from multiple devices. Songs in a user's local library on a Windows 8.1 PC could be matched and made available to other devices if available on Groove Music Pass.[21][22] Custom "radio stations" could be generated using songs related to user-selected songs.[23] Songs could be downloaded for offline listening on smartphones.[24] Uploading of non-Groove music became available on Windows 10.[20]

So I don't know if any of you out there agree with me or not...but the original Xbox had one of the best menu music visualizers I can remember...why is this not an app in the store?? I know I can't be the only one who would want it.

I got it for my Series X and have about 10 hours on it now. What boggles my mind, I have not heard a single piece of music since the start. Is this a bug or something? I swear there's moments in cutscenes where it was clearly meant to be accompanied by music, like no talk and showing things, no music at all. Just awkward sounds of the environment. I really loved the music in Odyssey and it really annoys me right now.

The same thing happened to me when I first downloaded the app onto my Xbox Series S. While physically on the app only 3 letters would cycle through the shuffling. Like A through C or T through V, for example. After searching online for other users that suffered the same mishap, I came across your post. I have been patiently trying to figure out a troubleshoot for this (for you, myself and any others) and stumbled upon this ability to fix such issues. If you press the xbox home button and open up your Apple Music from the menu, where it shows up underneath Home and My games & apps, you can press start while having shuffled toggled and it will cycle through your entire library from A-Z, straight from the Home Menu.

In addition to playing from a slew of games, Microsoft also allows users to play background music or audio on an Xbox One, thanks to a console update released for the eighth-generation gaming console.

Whether you want to listen to a new episode of your favorite podcast or play a newly-released album from your favorite musician, here's how you can play background music and audio on your Xbox One gaming console.

2. Scroll through the Guide, and locate the music app that you are currently using. You can find the integrated Spotify app at the top of the "Home" tab in the Xbox Guide, for instance.

I do not have any experience with using Elgato, but yes, if you can manage to set up some streaming software on your PC to capture video and audio from your Xbox via Elgato, all you have to do from there to stream music is to simply keep a browser tab open (on your PC) on your Nightbot AutoDJ at _requests

So as of this morning (1 hour ago as of this post) whenever I play a song on Pandora on my Series X, the songs keep cutting out. We get a few seconds of clear music, but then it hiccups, and continues playing. It just keeps doing that and it's really annoying.

This is a tutorial describing how to listen to your own music while placing an Xbox game. Some games on the first Xbox had support for custom soundtracks, with this feature you could disable the original music in the game and listen to your own tracks. A really cool feature as some games had some really horrible music. Before i discovered this feature i used to disable the music in the games, leaving the sound effects on and play my own music from my stereo, it worked but this feature is even better ?

So this i what you need to do. The Xbox actually rips the music from an audio cd to the Xbox HDD, so you need an Audio Cd. Start the Xbox so it starts the beautiful green dashboard and then insert the audio cd. The music player in the dashboard should start. After this you can with a button press go into the menu where you can choose to copy music to the hard drive. Select all or pick your favorites. The cool thing is that you can create folders of music, think of it as mixed-tapes. You can create different mixed-tapes with music that you rip from different audio cd:s. When the coping process is done you can remove the audio cd and try a game that has support for the feature!

Every game has its own way of playing your own soudtracks, but usally its located in the options menu in the game. I made a video showing how i copied music from my Ridge Racer: Type 4 Direct Audio cd to play with Burnout 3. And it worked great! I might also transfer some of my Initial D music to the xbox, perfect when playing racing games ?

No. When Microsoft announced the discontinuation of the Groove Music Pass streaming service on October 2, 2017, we notified customers that purchased music would be available to download until December 31, 2017. Unfortunately, that window has now passed. If you've already downloaded your music, you can listen to it on your PC with the Windows 10 Groove apps for PC, Xbox, and Windows Phone. You can also transfer your purchased music from one of your devices to another device for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Every 1-3 seconds of me playing a song it instantly pauses, i have tried logging out and signing back in, i have changed my password, i have uninstalled the app and re installed i have tried alot of things to try to fix the issue but it still pauses. but only on the xbox. on all my other devices it plays completely fine, just the xbox one

I fixed my issue. I had to change the language in the game to English (us) from (uk). Then went to setting on my xbox>display and sound>video output>select HDMI>GO through the set up so your tv is correctly displayed and at least 50hz > turn of the Xbox one x completely>take disc out and clean >then boot it up and all sound back again.

Maya went to UCLA in the 00s for English Literature and worked as an usher at their concert hall where she remembers seeing many great shows. While in college she DJed at UCLA Radio, and while studying abroad she interned at a record label in the UK. She also had a radio show there and took West African drumming classes. Maya shares "I've always been really interested in music and music discovery because I think context is so important. To me, one of the best places to discover music was in soundtracks." 2351a5e196
