I have an iPod Touch 2nd Generation that I recently updated to iOS 4.2.1 (the latest update the iPod can be updated to). I don't seem to be able to close apps. Nothing happens when I double tap the Home button and I don't see the bar/tray of opened apps that should be appearing at the bottom of the screen. So how do I close them?

I apologise if I'm asking a silly question. Always been an iPhone/iPod user but it's been a loooooong time since I touched this iPod Touch 2nd Gen of mine! It's become a stranger to me! I can't even remember if it used to be able to close apps or not before the 4.2.1 update... ?

The 2nd generation Touch does not have a tray with the open apps in it. So, just let the iPod manage app closure. Obviously, if you have something like Bebot and want to use it without the Music app playing, you will have to go back into the Music app and put the player into pause mode (which is also effectively the stop mode).

I have an Ipod Touch 4th gen. I have been using Spotify on it for a couple of years now with no problems. Now with the new version of Spotify, the app just shuts down in the middle of about the 3rd or 4th song and I have to open up the all all over again and go into "your music" to start it all over again. The other thing is that it doesn't react to like it should. When I touch the Ipod to fast forward, it takes 3-4 seconds before it reacts. NONE of these things happened before! I have uninstalled the app and resynced it SEVERAL times to no avail. Customer service is basically ignoring me. Does anyone else have these problems and does anyone have a fix? This is driving me nuts! I don't want to pay $9.99 a month for an app that doesn't work. Please help!

Hello, I've tried every fourm I can find on google and there is nothing out there that works for my case or I'm missing something. I've enabled the restrictions and the "deleting apps" is set to on and still no x's my OCD wants my screen to be clean and not to have a bunch of windows please help.

Some apps can't be deleted. If you want a blank screen I would advise moving them to the next screen, so your first screen is empty. I actually do that with all my iPhone's. I also have two folders at the bottom, one keeps all my communications apps, the other one keeps all my entertainment apps

The iPod Touch is nothing without a good library of apps. These are the programs that make your iPod Touch functional and fun. You can choose from thousands of free apps, or purchase apps with a credit card or iTunes gift card. As long as you have a network connection on your iPod or a connection to iTunes on a computer, you can quickly download and install new apps.

Beginning with iOS 10, you can delete apps that are pre-installed with iOS. For example, if you don't own any stocks, you can delete the Stocks app that came with your iPod Touch. The same is true for Weather, Books, Home, Maps, Reminders, etc.

The ability to sync apps was removed from iTunes version 12.7, released in 2017. If you're using an earlier version of iTunes, these instructions still apply, but if not, try some of the other instructions on this page to delete your iPod apps.

The iPod Touch (stylized as iPod touch) is a discontinued line of iOS-based mobile devices designed and formerly marketed by Apple Inc. with a touchscreen-controlled user interface. As with other iPod models, the iPod Touch can be used as a portable media player and a handheld gaming device, but can also be used as a digital camera, a web browser, for email and messaging.[4] It is nearly identical in design to the iPhone, and can run most iPhone third-party apps from the App Store, but it connects to the Internet only through Wi-Fi and uses no cellular network data, as it lacks a cellular modem.

The iPod Touch ran on iOS, the same operating system as the iPhone. It included Safari, Google Maps, a Mail app, apps for Music and Videos, and several more. Users type on a virtual keyboard displayed on the screen. Apple operates online stores, allowing users to buy and directly download music, videos and third-party software. From launch, the iPod Touch was described by journalists as an "iPhone without the phone,"[9] and each succeeding iPod Touch model was introduced with the same release of iOS as the contemporary iPhone model.

iPod Touch units running iOS 4 or earlier were required to be connected to a Mac or PC for first-time setup. Downloading apps or media from the iTunes Store and App Store does not require a computer, though media not purchased through the iTunes Store still has to be added through a computer.

To purchase content on the iPod Touch, the user must create an Apple ID or have an existing account. With this account one may download music and videos from the iTunes Store, apps from the App Store, or books from the Apple Books Store. An Apple ID account created without a credit card can be used to get free content, and gift cards can be used to pay for apps instead of using a credit card.

Sideloading apps outside the App Store is done through the Xcode application, and is intended for developers and enterprises, though tools for sideloading outside of Xcode exist, and are mainly used for applications not allowed in the App Store.

Like all of Apple's iOS devices, the iPod Touch is a tightly controlled or closed platform. Communication between apps is limited and controlled, and Apple is the only authorized software vendor for firmware and applications. Hackers have attempted to "jailbreak" all iOS devices to enable forbidden or unsupported features, such as multitasking in iOS versions before 4.0, themes for the home screen, and enabling the battery-percentage indicator (limited to the iPhone prior to the seventh-generation iPod Touch). Jailbreaks for the iPod Touch first surfaced a month after the original model was released in September 2007, when hackers released JailbreakMe 1.0 (also called "AppSnapp") to jailbreak iPhone OS 1.1.1.[21][22] This allowed users to install third-party programs on their devices before Apple permitted this with iPhone OS 2.

One of the best features of the iPod touch is that users have a big selection of awesome apps, so the iPod touch experience is customizable. Those who need to stay in touch at all times might download the greatest social apps - including Facebook, Skype, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter. Prefer getting an education while mobile? Try iBooks and Kindle. Or, organize your life with Wunderlist, Evernote, and Pocket Informant.

Those who also have an iPad or iPhone can use the best iPod touch apps to sync their information and virtual lives across devices. Evernote, for example, lets users create notes, lists, calendars, and more, all of which can be shared between iDevices - making it one of the best iPod touch apps available.

The Mayo Clinic Anxiety Coach App is available for $4.99 from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or www.itunes.com/appstore. The app was developed with funding from the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation. Mayo Clinic and Dr. Whiteside have a financial interest in Anxiety Coach.

If you've got some applications (apps) on your iPod that you're not using and you'd like to get rid of them, here's what you have to do. First, locate the app you want to delete and tap it, pressing down lightly for a few seconds. You'll see that the application icon will start to wriggle, and a small X will appear in the top left-hand corner of each application you want to delete. Tap the X icon, and you'll get a dialog box asking you to confirm. Tap the Delete button on the dialog box, and the app will disappear.

Be aware that there are some apps that come with the iPhone that you can't delete, such as Maps, Safari, Stocks and Weather. What you can do is to move them to another screen so they won't clutter up your prime space. If you delete an app that you paid for and afterward decide you want it back, the app store allows you to download it again for free.

When you test beta apps or beta App Clips with TestFlight, Apple will collect and send crash logs, your personal information such as name and email address, usage information, and any feedback you submit to the developer. Information that is emailed to the developer directly is not shared with Apple. The developer is permitted to use this information only to improve their App and is not permitted to share it with a third party. Apple may use this information to improve the TestFlight app and detect and prevent fraud.
