When I clean my system with CCleaner I still see Internet Explorer files (usually two files but up to 12 or so) that must be cleaned even though MS claimed to have discontinued the program. I also continue to show Internet Explorer in my Program Files. When I clean my browsers with KAMO there is no option to clean IE any longer. If IE is still soiling my system and reporting my browser activity back to Microsoft through IE then how can I clean that without an option to do so? Is there a way to simply remove Internet Explorer or at least get the KAMO option back to clear it along with Firefox and Edge?

PS. It's not at all unusual to still have IE on your machine, even with Windows 11.

It doesn't usually show unless you go looking for it.

If you do try to use it it will tell you that you should use Edge instead.

Can I Still Download Explorer

Not many programmes still use IE, and you would know if you had one.

They are mainly software from big companies and organisations that haven't updated yet because of costs.

(The last one I personally came across was a payment system for British Gas to top-up a pre-payment card, the device used to top up the cards could only connect via IE).

I wouldn't bother about IE still being on your Windows machine, there's a lot of stuff on there which never gets used by most people.

If you are truly paranoid about MS Windows then there are alternative Operating Systems:

Libraries are basically simple shortcuts that can open multiple locations with a single click. If you move a folder or directory that is connected to a library the library shortcut will still show the contents of that folder. I believe there may be some unique handling when you use a library shortcut to access these folders and so windows indexing system may sometimes fail to update properly.

After deleting .svn directory, TSVNCache.exe kept directory "opened" (although it did not exists on disk, on explorer was still shown). Killing TSVNCache.exe and closing explorer windows solved the problem.

I know that I am late but still, in my case the problem was that I switched to AHCI mode for sata to install Kali Linux. Apparently, AHCI mode also causes this problem. Try using other modes to solve it.

I can't remember the exact technical reason, but IIRC it is a combination of explorer not checking if the file is deleted, thus displaying a ghost icon, and a strange behavior of windows 7 that makes undeleteable empty copies of a deleted file that has been modified/executed recently. The only solution to this is normally to wait a few minutes for windows to fix itself or restart explorer.exe.

Go to task bar right click on it, click on start task manager, click on processes, find explorer and after clicking on it click on end process. After that go to application tab/new task/type explore then hit Enter!

Hi all - I have a user why has a few SharePoint items (folders) synched to Win 10 File Explorer. She's not sure how they got there and they aren't relevant to her. We went to OneDrive settings and stopped synching that item, but it still shows up in File Explorer (after more than 12 hours). There doesn't seem to be a "remove shortcut' option in the right-click menu of the item.

Now, when I open my VBA Project explorer in the vba editor. It shows the list of files that have been opened by the macro even though they are closed. How do i remove them from the project explorer window ? why its still showing the excel workbooks, which are already closed ? is there anyway to fix it or its a limitation?

Further intel. I had the same problem and was using Google Drive (previously Google desktop). I found I could resolve the problem while still using Google Drive by not only ensuring set wb = nothing, but also checking thatApplication.EnableEvents = True when the files were programmatically closed.

I was in the process of troubleshooting a new SAML implementation and found that Citrix Workspaces still leverages Internet Explorer components to preform SAML requests. Internet Explorer has many downsides because it isn't a modern browser and I think Citrix Workspace could benefit by upgrading to something much newer like Microsoft Edge (Chrome), Google Chrome, Chromium, etc. This would also give the ability to add more to the Citrix Workspaces app in the future in the way of HTML5 coding on the Gateway or Storefront sites too.

I assume you're talking about the FQDN limit of 254 characters? It has always been an issue, and will probably continue to be an issue due to backwards compatibility for many years to come. Reminder: There are still companies running Windows Server 2003.

It's nuts. I deal with a lot of attorneys and no matter how much I try to educate they still name files this way. A file name could be 2-3 actual sentences including numbers, dashes, periods, etc. As long as they can name a file that way and open when needed, they don't care. When it comes to actually moving the file and they can't, again, no big deal. Let IT do it.

Steve, as a workaround for the time being you could use the Landsat Explorer instead of the Sentinel Explorer. The time selector is still working in the Landsat Explorer. I would still second your request to get the Sentinel Explorer app repaired!

It makes no difference if I change the size/view of the directory, they still appear as blue and pink icons, NOT as a file preview. I'm not the only person to have encountered this. It's been an issue with files backed up to OneDrive since V1. If COREL can get it to work with CorelDraw files then there is no excuse for Affinity not getting it to work with Designer/Photo etc.

You're only reading and accepting what would serve you. It's been posted, the Recent aspect of AP, is part of the application. The Open dialog is not, it is the OS explorer or finder, whichever platform is being used. It's just that simple!! Windows (MS) for unknown reason(s) is not seeing the thumbnails, once Onedrive seizes it.

But you may have noticed that the explorer whose services Open dialog uses offers other services that Recent dialog does not. Whether it is the display of document properties, different preview sizes, etc. So, apart from the fact - that this is not the right step, because properly applications "should" use OS services to the maximum extent possible, so a lot of users will be very disappointed with this proposal of yours.

Sure, my point is what is stopping Serif from using the same browser for "open" then? You seem to be confusing matters. If serif can show thumbnails (within the application) for "recent" then why not use the same for "open". I am talking about WITHIN the APPLICATION and this is SEPARATE from file explorer which is Windows. While I would like to see thumbnails in the latter, if it can work in the former then clearly all Serif needs to do is modify the "open" viewer to work using the same viewer as they use in "recent" and NOT use Windows explorer.

We created Internet Explorer (IE) mode in Microsoft Edge for organizations that still need Internet Explorer 11 for backward compatibility with existing websites but also need a modern browser. This feature makes it easier for organizations to use one browser, for legacy web/apps or for a modern web/app. This article provides an introduction to using Microsoft Edge with IE mode.

Thanks @piffy for the report. We have recently made some changes to data-explorer plugin so this could very well be valid. I have tested multiple queries with a usernames input and have not ran into the issue linked in OP. Could you drop your query here that I could test it out?

One problem I've had in Team Foundation Server since Visual Studio 2005 and still in VS 2008 is when items are deleted by someone else, they still show up in Source Control Explorer, with a gray folder with a red X icon, even with "Show deleted items in the Source Control Explorer" unchecked in VS's Options dialog. Sometimes getting latest of the parent clears things up, but other times it doesn't, even with Get Specific Version with both Overwrite boxes checked to force a get. In this case, the only option I've found is to delete my workspace and recreate it, which means checking in everything beforehand, and getting latest of my working branches afterwards. It's a pain, but as specified here and approved by a Microsoft employee, that may be your only option until it's fixed--fingers crossed for VS 2010. (We won't get into the other things for which my fingers have been crossed since I first used TFS in 2005, things that VSS did just fine, such as rollback, check in changes and keep checked out, and search.)

Thanks for the information Ben. So, there is still a manual way of creating bom's and it can be imported from Excel. I use Excel (vba) intensive in an other project, so writing the conversion should not be a problem. Regards from across the pond...

Such a delay could potentially put the organization at risk, seeing as Microsoft regularly releases various security updates. The same can be said for still using Internet Explorer. As Microsoft sunsets the browser, the risk for cyberattacks will only increase for those users who still cling to Explorer.

As Microsoft continues to push users away from Windows 7, this drop in market share is very significant. In months prior, Windows 7 still held on to its fair share of the market compared to Windows 10. In June 2019, Windows 7 netted a 35.38% share, while Windows 10 was at 45.7%. A month later, Windows 7 netted a 31.83% share compared Windows 10's 48.86%. This marks only the second significant drop in Windows 7 share of the personal computer market on a per-month basis, according to ComputerWorld. ff782bc1db
