Can I Download Apps On Roku

If any channels/apps are added/removed from one Roku they are added/removed from every Roku linked to the same Roku account. You can see what Rokus are linked to your account by using the email address that shows up under Settings->System->About to log in at . Check to see if there are any devices shown there that you don't recognize. If the email address that shows under Settings->System-About isn't yours or you don't recognize it then you have bigger problems.

Roku has, in the past, pushed channels. I'm not aware of them doing it recently. Those were big name apps (Showtime, etc) that got a major push. Think along the line of the whole Apple/U2 album release fiasco; everyone got it, despite not wanting it. Roku was doing the same thing around that time.

I was sitting watching TV Netflix on roku and it just logged me out. When I logged back in it said I needed to activate my roku device. So I did that and when the reactivation was complete every app was gone. Even though when I go to roku app and search for all the channel apps I had everyone says they are installed, but nothing is on my TV to choose from.

@Crolson Someone probably got into your account after they bought their own Roku and deleted all of the apps from your devices or something like that. Hopefully @RokuKariza-D or someone else at Roku will explain to you more in this situation.

I turned on my Hisense Roku TV today and all of my apps on my home screen are now blank. I can't even get to my DVD player button. I do not have my TV hooked up to any wifi, I always just watch my DVD player off of it. I've tried restarting my tv, unplugged my TV for over an hour, reset my TV audio picture settings, I've almost factory reset it but I decided to wait to see if we can figure out what's going on. Any help would be great. I bought this tv less then a year ago. Very frustrating.

I have the sane issue. If reading the original posters problem correctly, they don't mean that single app don't work, they mean the Home/Apps list of all apps installed shows nothing but transparent blank squares. Sometimes they'll pop up and show the list of installed apps, but most the time it'll show nothing but blank squares. I noticed this happen on 2 of my roku devices, both are different devices. 1 a roku streaming sound bar, & the other a roku premiere 4k. It gets very annoying as you can't choose any of your apps cause a screen of transparent squares show where the apps are supposed to be, & even if trying to move to the right of the screen to see if you land on a square maybe the apps might pop up, well they dont, the button click to the right only takes you to the ad banner to the righy of where the apps should be. I really hope there's a fix for this because ive tried everything & the only thing that works is being lucky & having the app list pop up after having the tv turned on with the home screen sitting there blank for no set amount of time before the app list possibly pops up. And even then you still have to be lucky that when it pops up when you finally click to the righy to choose an app to use that the app screen don't disappear right away like it seems to do after it possibly finally pops back up.

Hey, so I was gonna watch the new criminal minds and the video plays but there's nothing on the screen. It's on, and the UI all works as do the various streaming apps UI. There's audio too, but the video starts and the content goes black. Tried Amazon prime, and discovery+ too and got same thing.

After entering an app about 5 minutes later it will kick me out of the app and return to the home screen the roku doesn't shut down it's never done this before we've had it for almost a year and it just started doing it the other night I tried resetting the bandwidth and everything nothings working

Im experiencing the exact issue The roku tv worked fine for a little over a year , now it stops streaming after 5 minutes or so and goes back to the Home Screen. These TVs ARENT CHEAP! This should not be happening! It seems hundreds of people are experiencing the same thing.

I am having the same problem. Roku Ultra LT. Device ID 04607F608553. Connected via Ethernet. Happens consistently with YouTube, PBS and Apple TV apps. YouTube crashed repeatedly recently. Did system restart. Problem continues but usually resolves after restarting app after one crash.

Last week I exited the YouTube app on my Roku and all the apps on the Home Screen were smaller. It went from 3 across to 4. How do I change it back (if I can)? I'm extremely near-sighted and find myself squinting to see which one I'm looking at. Not a huge hassle, but just annoying that it happened without warning.

Same thing happened to me came off amazon app on roku and bam went from 3 across to 4 across much smaller,I've tried everything except factory reset don't think I'm gonna do that,it would be nice to fix it oh well?

What Roku device are you using right now? (e.g., Roku Express, Roku Streambar, Roku TV; specify TV) When did this issue occur? Can you please provide a video or screenshot of the issue you're experiencing? In the meantime, please try to restart your device from Settings > System > Power > System restart (if you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step) and see if it goes back to how it was.

Please offer those of us who are visually impaired the option to have bigger apps.

I also did some research on social media platforms where people are also unhappy about the change and many are stating that this has nothing to do with the display each person uses. This is purely a roll out by ROKU that ignores the needs of the visually impaired.

To be honest I was excited when I first saw the roku offerings. Hope that I could either register my cams in Roku app or have Roku app pick up from Wyze. I have Roku TV/boxes and the ability to pull up on tv/projector directly would be cool.

This uses a parent, and child device. The parent device Roku TV is the main device driver that controls the Roku media players, and Roku powered TVs directly as a TV capable device. The child device is a hubitat/Generic Component Switch for launching Roku apps, and tracking state of which app is loaded. Each app can get its own switch. If automatic management is enabled, the switches will be deleted automatically if the app is deleted from the Roku -- there is no need to manage them manually. Still, if you wish to, you may.

Query Installed Apps - This query is used to obtain the list of all the installed applications. The query is not needed once the list has been polled from the Roku device, except when applications are installed or removed. Because of this, you can disable the query, and manually call the Reload Apps command to wipe and load the applications list, or call the Query Installed Apps command to only detect changes, and update the system accordingly. The complete list of installed applications found from this query are published through the supportedInputs attribute, so that dashboard that support the MediaInputSource capability can be used to switch inputs and applications on the roku -- I am not aware of any dashboards at this time that support the capability.

See my response to @photographicnature for slightly more detailed instructions. If after entering the ip address, and issuing a browser refresh, if you do not see the child devices, let me know. Your roku may be different, and my handler may need some additional parsing.

This code may not work on older roku devices, as it is written based on modern API specifications. It is unlikely to be the case though, as this is the same web api that the roku app uses on smart phones.

I have updated this to a momentary switch + button. To ensure maximum portability, I added the actuator capability, and changed the logic so that a button press will trigger an on/off event. As the documentation is still very limited, I have to rely on information I can find out on the web and in this community. This update should work better. I have confirmed it does export my apps to Alexa correctly now.

Install the roku-tv.groovy and roku-app.groovy to the drivers code sections. Then in Devices, create a new device, and select Roku TV as the device type. enter anything for the required fields. I use a naming convention which will be apparent in my updated instructions that I will post later today.

Once the Roku TV app is added as a virtual device, enter the IP Address, and press the save button. If your roku is using wifi, the mac address should be detected automatically. Now, wait about 5 seconds, and refresh the browser page. Your new page will produce details about your roku under the state section, and it should show the current currentApp and switch values. That should be all there is to it.

If at anytime you want to reset your child devices, press the Refresh Apps button, and it will delete and re-add all your child devices.

The regular "Refresh" button will find any missing app, and add them as well as remove any app that are no longer installed on the TV. This means you do not have to manually maintain your child apps.

The power on action will attempt to wake up the roku device, if the device supports wake-on-lan or wake-on-wifi. If you can send me the XML result from the following call, I can see how to interpret the output.
