🎤 Open Mic — Everyone Welcome!
Whether you’ve been performing for years, haven’t picked up an instrument in decades, or simply fancy getting up and having a go, you’re welcome.
Musicians • Singers • Songwriters
Original songs and covers are both welcome. Solo performers, duos and small acoustic groups are encouraged.
And you certainly don’t have to perform — come along, grab a seat and enjoy the show!
How Does It Work?
Sign-up begins at Noon on the day and slots are first come, first served.
Performers can have up to three songs or 15 minutes, whichever comes first. Everyone gets an opportunity to perform before second turns are offered.
If time remains after everyone has performed, we’ll happily go around again.
The host may adjust the running order or performance time depending on attendance and setup requirements.
🎸 Want to Sing, But Don't Play an Instrument?
No problem!
If there’s a song you’d love to sing but you don’t play an instrument, drop Chris a line before the event. at chris_grieve@hotmail.com
If it’s a song he can work with, Chris will play alongside you while you take the spotlight and share your vocal talent.
Please get in touch ahead of time so you can agree on the song and key and work out anything needed before the day.
🎚️ What Do We Provide?
The Center provides a PA system and two microphones.
You’re welcome to use our microphones, or you can bring your own microphone or personal microphone cover if you prefer.
Please bring your own instrument and any instrument-specific equipment you need. We ask performers to keep setups reasonably simple so we can move easily from one act to the next.
🎶 Keep It Live
Our Open Mic is about people performing live for one another.
There are no karaoke performances or pre-recorded backing tracks.
Please keep material appropriate for a community audience and be considerate of the other performers and audience.
❤️ You Don't Have to Be a Pro
That’s really what this is all about.
Open Mic at the Center is intended to be a friendly, relaxed and supportive place to perform. You don’t need professional experience, fancy equipment or a perfect voice.
Maybe you’ve played for years. Maybe you used to perform and would like to start again. Maybe you’ve never sung in front of anybody before.
Come and have a go.
Or just come and listen — sometimes being a great audience is just as important.
