Jeremy Seaver has been songleading since 1989. Born in Illinois, Jeremy was surrounded by a loving, nurturing, and encouraging musical family. Throughout High School, Jeremy taught music and Hebrew at local congregations, and was the assistant director for a children’s choir. Jeremy continued developing his repertoire and musical skills through his involvement in NFTY’s Chicago Area Region youth group, and his numerous years as a songleader at Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute.
Jeremy has performed and songled for weddings, B’nai Mitzvot, Shabbat, holiday, and High Holiday services. Jeremy has attended on worked on the staff of Hava NaShira, the influential songleader’s workshop at OSRUI in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and served as the Assistant Director for the Hillel Foundation at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Jeremy has taught, inspired, and shared his love of Jewish music with participants of Taglit/birthright israel trips, CFJE/JUF Ta’am Yisrael experiences, and on the faculty of Hillel’s Schusterman International Student Leaders Assembly.
Jeremy was one of the leaders of the musical project Shabbat Shirah, catering to a young and dedicated community in Chicago. Shabbat Shirah featured a blend of Traditional Ashkenazi & Sephardi tunes, Carlebach niggunim, contemporary melodies, and new original melodies and arrangements.
Jeremy co-founded "Shalom Shabbat", a lively Shabbat experience for young families at Temple Beth Israel in Skokie and was influential in creating the successful Young Family's High Holiday worship experience.
You can often find Jeremy and his guitar at Congregation Or Shalom of Vernon Hills as a Songleader, often his son Zachary joins him for Shabbat services.
