Once Skadi realized that the goal was adventure quest, she began doing what she loves- writing. And that was how the Norseling's Guide to Tabletop Gaming came about. The Norseling's Guide teaches new gamers the basics of character creation using DND as a base. Then, when adventurers partake in the Quest to Level 5, they learn even more about leveling their character and other basic elements of TTRPG gaming. 

Skadi has partnered with NorseForged Gathering to create a special encampment for gaming learners called Camp Norseling, named after the event host, NorseForged. You can learn more about the Gathering at norseforgedgathering.com. 

I go by Skadi (s-kah-dee or s-kay-dee I don't have a preference), and OakenLake Creations started as a jewelry business. After finishing my book I realized that was where my heart truly was. So who is your teacher? Well, after college I worked in Japan for a year teaching English at a cram school. After that, I taught in public schools for another 6 years for a combined 8 years of teaching. When I retired, I knew public school teaching was never going to bring me true inner joy. Now that I have Camp OakenLake, I feel at peace with retiring from teaching and the Gatherings have helped bring me inner joy. 

Last year, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 endometrial cancer right after Gathering 5. As of this Gathering, 6, I am simply waiting on the "all clear." If beating cancer has taught me anything, it's how important inner joy is. Don't continue on paths or habits that don't serve you and bring you peace. You deserve peace and safety, that is something you should never have to earn.
