Location
Both the school and workshop will be held at the University of Cumbria, Ambleside Campus.
Room and building to be confirmed.
Travel
Local travel and parking information. On-campus parking is available but limited, so if you plan to bring a car please let the organisers know in advance.
Air: the most convenient airports would likely be (in some rough order...)
Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle
But there are also hourly trains from central London to Windermere.
Train: the campus is a short bus / taxi ride from Windermere train station.
Timetables for the 555 and 599 buses can be found here, here, here and here, and Google maps will have live updates. (No need to pre-book, just pay on the bus.)
Accommodation
We will accommodate the majority of participants on-campus, in single ensuite rooms with shared kitchens and living spaces.
Those arriving on 13th July should go to Barn Reception to collect room keys. Towels are provided, and there are laundry facilities on-site.
See the information document below for more details.
Participants with accompanying partners and family members will be in shared Airbnbs booked by the organisers.
Alternatively, participants can of course book their own accommodation.
Meals
We will provide lunches and coffee breaks on-campus during the day.
Breakfasts and dinners are to be arranged by participants - there are many options for places to eat in Ambleside and all accommodations come equipped with kitchen facilities.
Summer school and workshop dinners
The school dinner will be happening at Ishaas Indian Eatery on Thursday 17th July from 7pm.
The workshop dinner will be happening at The Priest Hole on Tuesday 22nd July from 7pm.
Details for each are in our recent email!
Funding
We are able to cover the full costs of all on-campus rooms, and up to £50/night per participant for those staying elsewhere.
Those wishing to extend their stay outside 13th-23rd July may do so, but would need to cover the extra nights themselves. (On-campus options can be arranged by contacting the organisers.)
All lunches and coffee breaks will also be covered, as well as both the summer school dinner and workshop dinner.
