At Camp Bennett, we believe in raising up the next generation leaders — and that starts right here at camp. Our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Leadership Development Program is designed for teens who feel called to grow in their leadership, and serve others with excellence.
This year, we’re revamping the CIT program to make it even more impactful, intentional, and empowering. The updated volunteer program will combine hands-on leadership experience with focused development, team-building exercises, and mentorship from experienced camp staff.
CITs will have the opportunity to:
Develop leadership and communication skills
Learn how to lead and support campers.
Gain practical experience by assisting with camp activities and cabin life.
Build strong relationships with peers and mentors.
Grow in confidence, responsibility, and servant-hearted leadership
In order to be apart of our CIT program, we ask that you and your family commit to attending Camp Bennett for a minimum of 1 week or join us for all 6 weeks of camp this summer! The trainee will need to fill out a brief survey (see below) and complete an interview to be a part of this program! After being accepted, we will provide you access to register for camp this summer! **The CIT application is currently closed**
Special note: Camp Bennett's programming runs Monday-Friday as an overnight camp.
Our trainee's that have decided to join us for all six-weeks of summer camp and are DC residents are also invited to apply to the SYEP work development program and select Camp Bennett as their worksite. These students will have additionally job training and opportunities presented for their 20 work development hours as seen in the SYEP job description. ** If you are not apart of our volunteer program but would still like to join us for SYEP, please give us a call. **
