We are a team. Though we are teenagers and come from different high schools, we are united as one. We plan and have meetings online and in person before the camp is held. We throw in our own ideas, and use the methods we learn English to teach students. Our hope is the same, to help students from suburban elementary learn English. To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world. And we believe that English is the key to a whole new world where we can enlarge our scope of knowledge and open our eyes to the entire world.
We teach students to read English books, and tell them the meanings of each word through description in English. We believe that we shouldn't learn English from translation, instead we should embrace it and learn from the language itself. After teaching them, we film them reading the stories, make videos from these films, and show it to the students. By doing so, we hope to show them that, yes, they have the ability to read a English book, and can do far more when you are determined to do it.
We design English educational games. For example : Musical Chairs, Human Size Monopoly, How Many People are in Your House, etc. We hope by playing these games we can learn with joy.
We read the story, Moana, to students. To encourage them that they should go after their dreams and let their hearts lead them. Also, we hope to let the volunteers head towards their dream.
Each volunteer designs an art project to teach students. The children were really excited to make things, and they had fun playing with their crafts.
Dancing livens the mind. We teach the lyrics "How Far I'll Go", a song from the movie Moana. Also, we teach them dancing to let them relax their minds.
We teach the students and the volunteers slowly develop a better method of teaching young children. During the event, the children read books and were eager to answer questions.
We teach them how to read a book, film it, and show them the video of them reading. By doing this, we hope to show them that they have the ability to read a English book and not fear it.
Hi, I am Lucy, and a tenth grader in Chiayi Vacational High School. I organized and hosted this event in hopes of teaching elementary students English. I have always believed that reading is the key to learn a language. And thus hosted this camp in hopes of giving teenagers a chance to learn how to teach and for students to learn English.
The activity this time was very successful, better than I'd anticipated. The children loved it. The volunteers gave everything they had into it, their devotion and enthusiasm. This time I worked hard to keep everything undercontrol and manage the time. That day, the reading went faster than scheduled, so I had to change the schedule quickly. Even though I was exhausted, I was still full of the joy of teaching and talking to students. I felt really happy when a second grader told me that she really liked this camp and that she really liked English. I hope that we had sparked an interest in English in them and in the hearts of the volunteers too. We are teenagers, but we can also change the world.
My name is Tina, and I am a first grader in Chiayi Girl's Senior high school. I was a teacher in the activities last summer. When I received the invitation to teach again this winter, the feeling of absolute accomplishment and jubilation from last summer pushed me forward, and I decided to join the teaching process again this winter. I hope it is going to be a fabulous experience for both the volunteers and the children participating.
This is the second time I've been in a volunteer for a camp, but this time I am in charge of getting things and people in place, which is another new thing to me. Which explains why I have so many doubts and problems during the process, but things eventually came in place and I had buckets of fun looking after children, since it isn't a thing you could experience every day. The kids are lovely and the volunteers are wonderful. I appreciate everyone's hard work.
Hi, my name is Chency. I am fifteen years old. I am very glad to join this English Winter Camp. During this activity, I hope I can improve my english and teaching skills. I love to cook and have a Youtube cooking channel. In this camp, I plan to teach students the basic vocabulary of the food and let them know the joy of cooking.
After this activity, I felt exhausted. It turns out that taking children was a matter of great patience and it was not so easy.
The children ate the cakes I made and were very happy. Their smiles made my exhaustion disappeared instantly. In the process, I also learned how to teach children like using rewards to motivate them, and how to deal with problems. I really learned a lot this time and hope to participate again next time.
Hi, I'm Ella from Chiayi Vacational High School. I joined this activity because I want children to increase their interest in foreign languages and use their knowledge to explore interesting or meaningful international things.
I’m Alice, a fifteen-year-old student, study at National Chia-Yi Girls' Senior High School.I always enjoy teaching and chatting with kids,so I’m really glad to have the chance to be one of the staffs of this camp.I hope I can not only impart my knowledge to them but try my best to guide them to develop themselves and have a wonderful experience.
Hi! My name is Kiwi. I study at Chiayi Girl Senior High, and I like baking and singing. Actually, I'm not a enthusiastic person, and maybe my personality is not that suitable for the camp, but I think everything is worth trying. This is the first time I join a camp as a teacher. I hope the students will enjoy the activities and games we prepared. It is pleasant to know that the children and I can learn something from this precious experience.
With every volunteers’ effort, this winter English camp ended pleasantly and safely. At first, I was afraid that the kids couldn't understand what we were going to do, and they could be very noisy, however, they performed well. Although some of them couldn't speak English fluently, they still try hard to answer the questions which were designed by us. To my surprise, in the craft time, I taught them how to make a mouse bookmark. The children listened to us and decorated their own bookmarks. They created beautiful art crafts by themselves. After all the curriculums ended, I heard some children tell their parents that the day was fun. I thought that was what I wanted to know. If the children enjoyed the activities and games, they were likely to think English is more interesting than it was. During the camp, I learned how to connect with my partners so that we can accomplish the work faster and better. Also, the innocence of the kids made me think of that even though everyone will grow up, we remain needing to keep the innocence, it makes everything less complicated. I'm sure that I gained lots of invaluable experiences through the special activity.
I am Chloe, a high school student. I like to try new things. This time I came to this event because I wanted to see the innocence of children and the happiness of childhood.
Hi, my name is Finn from Chiayi Vacational High School. I am about 15 years old. I had free time during the winter and thought that this would be a great opportunity to get along with children.
The English teaching at Jing-Jhong Elementary School ended successfully. The children there were adorable as we expected, not only did they happily finished the programs with us, but we also had intimate interactions. They were also seriously listening to our course detail.
To stay with kids and see they smile make me feel honorable. Hope that we can have another time for taking care of kids and teaching them English.

My name is Claire. I go to Chiayi Vacational High School. I am 16 years old. Though I like children, I am not good at talking with them. I like to take care of others, but I don't like to console people. I am very emotional, easilly touched person, especially when it comes to children. I hope through this event, I can learn many valuable events.
My name is Candy, I am a senior high school student from Chia-Yi. I like to spend time with children. I used to take care of my little sister, and I found it interesting. Since then, I enjoy the time spending with children. I would like to learn how to get along with them, or help them with any questions.
After joining the camp, I learned more about taking care of the children, and I enjoy the time we spent together. We read the books, make some art craft, and we also have fun. It's not as simple as I think, it really needs a lot of patience. The kids are energetic, and we try more to make them focus on the tasks we gave them. It's not only a camp, but a great challenge and memory to remember.
Introduction:
Hello! My name is Tina, I’m a sixteen-year –old teenager. I’m from Chiayi Girl Senior High School. I like to do my best on everything, and give myself some difficult challenges .Thus, I think that participating in this camp is a good experience . This winter camp is not only playing with the kid whose age is far smaller than us, but also a training of our English conversational competence. During this camp, I hope I learn some new things. For me, talking with children is a tough task , because I’m not good at communicating with others. Also coupled with speaking in English, I may make the activity worse. Fortunately, I have a reliable partner can help me . So I Think I can do it well. Last ,I sincerely hope everything may be consummate and successful.
Although I was tired, seeing the smiles on the children's faces, I felt that everything is worth it, and I am grateful to all my partners for their support and help, I believe that everyone learned a lot of new things through this activity.

Hello everybody, my name is called Lesley. In these two days, I became a helper for the camp. Now I know what it is like to be a teacher, and it is hard. And as a student I think that I should be a good girl and not make my teacher's job harder.
