Affectionately dubbed "Wally" by his wife Kay, Wally was one of the co-founders of Camp TESSA. He and his wife had the idea for Camp TESSA as they entered their retirement years, and wanted to found something special for those with ASD. From this yearning came a camping experience where kids and adults with ASD can work on developing needed social skills in safe and loving setting while experiencing all the joys of summer camp . The vision for this camp came out of their love for their granddaughter, Katie Caswell, who experiences the challenges of living with autism. Before co-founding Camp TESSA, Wally servied on the Board of Trustees for Kentucky Wesleyan College and Lindsey Wilson College. He was a minister for many years in several Kentucky locations and Georgia. Outside the ministry, Wally was a devout family man who also loved bringing together his community.
Denise was a member of the Camp TESSA family for almost 20 years. In addition to her work with Camp TESSA, Denise touched many lives of students with ASD and their families through Hardin County Schools. She was also an incredible inspiration for many teachers in our area. Outside of her career in Special Education, Denise was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandma.
