Camp Knox Lodge was chartered in 1922 and its meetings were held just outside of the US Army's Camp Knox, known today as Fort Knox. Following the Second World War, Fort Knox experienced rapid growth and in the 1950's, expanded its borders, encompassing the location where Camp Knox Lodge had been meeting for the previous 30 years. In 1956 the City of Radcliff was incorporated and a new lodge building was erected the following year. Camp Knox Lodge has been meeting at this location ever since.
The lodge is connected to the military through more than name alone. Over the last century, military servicemembers have filled every chair in the lodge countless times, with many Worship Masters choosing to take their official lodge portrait in their military uniform. The military connection is also realized through visitors to the lodge as well. In October of 1959, President Harry Truman, General Douglas MacArthur, and General Omar Bradley all visited the lodge while on a tour of Fort Knox. All three of these men were Master Masons and the story goes that their visit to the lodge was inspired, in part, by their desire to get away from the Secret Service Agents who were assigned to them.
