Purpose
The purpose of the Cameron Spirit Teams is to provide support to all Cameron University athletics teams and to support the University. This is done by:
Aiding in fan support for Cameron athletics by entertaining the crowd in a positive and appropriate manner.
By acting as an ambassador of Cameron University and athletics, upholding the goals, ideals and values of the institution at all times.
To participate in Cameron events by cheering and promoting crowd involvement at athletic and university events.
Time Commitment
Spirit team members must be organized in order to fulfill student obligations and squad responsibilities. Commitments to the spirit teams includes participation is ALL practices, home volleyball games, and home men’s and women’s basketball games, fund-raising events, community service, workouts and study halls assigned by the Coach. Members will be given a calendar of events. This is a working calendar, additions and deletions may occur. Each member is expected to schedule work and other events around this calendar. Some Cameron spirit team members may be required to travel to post season play.
Scholarship/Academics
Scholarships are awarded on an individual basis and are determined by the number of years on the team, eligibility and academics. Each member has the opportunity to receive a tuition and housing waiver. To receive and maintain these waivers, members must be enrolled in 12 credit hours, have a 2.0 GPA and earn 24 credit hours between fall, spring and summer semesters.
