1999
Created storyboard illustrations for the Sony/Dreamworks Animation series Men In Black, which was based on the popular film franchise and directed by Darwyn Cooke, Stewart’s longtime mentor.
Portfolio review session at San Diego Comic Con. Was hired by DC Comics to draw an issue of Scooby Doo, his first experience drawing comics and the beginning of what would evolve into a long career with DC.
Asked to provide illustrations on a key portion of The Invisibles in collaboration with superstar writer Grant Morrison.
2002
Co-founded the Royal Academy of Illustration and Design (RAID), a collective of freelance comic book artists, writers and illustrators that continues to remain active but with a different group of leaders.
Collaborated with some of the industry’s top writers such as Ed Brubaker on the superhero-noir series Catwoman, based on the Batman villain.
Worked on Superhero fantasy series Seaguy as well as its sequel, Seaguy: Slaves of Mickey Eye, The Manhattan Guardian -- part of the epic Seven Soldiers series -- along with Batman and Robin, Batman Incorporated, and Multiversity: Thunderworld, the team’s interpretation of the Shazam character.
2007
Visited Vietnam to do research for the Vietnam War graphic novel The Other Side, which he created with writer Jason Aaron, and for which he and Aaron were honored with an Eisner Award nomination for Best Limited Series.
2008
Began work on his own original, long-form graphic novel Sin Titulo -- a semi-autobiographical noir thriller dealing with family, childhood and memory -- that was heavily inspired by the works of David Lynch and Haruki Murakami.
2011
Co-wrote and drew Assassin's Creed: The Fall with partner Karl Kerschl for Ubisoft Montreal. Followed in 2012-13 by its sequels The Chain and Brahman.
2015
Illustrated author Chuck Palahniuk’s sequel to his acclaimed cult novel, Fight Club, which went on to top the New York Times Graphic Novel bestseller list for six months.
Led DC Comics’ pop art, young adult revamp of Batgirl, which became popular with fans both in books and merchandising. Since then, the Batgirl creative team has created its own science fiction series, Motor Crush.
2019
Illustrated the second sequel to Fight Club, again with author Chuck Palahniuk.
2020
Re-united with Ed Brubaker for The Art of Picking A Lock, a short Catwoman story celebrating the 80th anniversary of the character.
