Cameron Nye is a Salem-based theatre artist currently pursuing his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with a concentration in performance at Salem State University. They started performing at the age of 6, taking dance classes for the next 11 years of his life. Cameron was last seen on stage as a Somebody in Brendan Jacob-Jenkins' Everybody. Recent credits include Trail to Oregon (Grandpa/Choreographer), Romeo and Juliet (Sampson/Friar John/Ensemble), As You Like It (Duke Frederick) and Something Rotten! (Nick Bottom). In 2025, Cameron was a finalist for the Musical Theater Scholarship Award at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Region one, where they were the inaugural winner of the MTSA Past Chair Award. Cameron is an alumnus of the Woburn High Stage Company, where he was awarded two Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild Awards for Excellence in Acting awards for their performances as Carter in Help Desk: A Stay at Home Play and Heubner in Heubner the Reluctant. While their love for performing is their main focus, Cameron also loves getting involved behind the scenes. They are also a lighting designer and programmer and have experience as an assistant stage manager. Cameron is very community and family oriented and is working as a Resident Assistant and Orientation Leader at Salem State University.
Cameron is thrilled to announce they have been cast in Salem State University's production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as Ensemble and the Anthony U/S. He will also be serving as the Dance Captain!
