Mr. Cook was born and raised in Beaufort, South Carolina. After high school, Mr. Cook attended Presbyterian College, where he studied English, Psychology, foreign languages, Philosophy, Film Studies, and Creative Writing. Between his graduation from Presbyterian College and obtaining his Master's Degree, Mr. Cook spent a few years working on movie sets as a camera operator, writer, and director.

In the fall of 2015, Mr. Cook began teaching at Greer Middle College. His specialties are American Literature, Film Studies and Filmmaking, and Ethics/Philosophy. Mr. Cook is the faculty advisor for the GMC Writing Center, and he is also the Lead Instructional Coach for the GMC Faculty.
