We are a diverse coalition of CPSD caregivers, educators, and community members representing the full spectrum of school communities in Cambridge. We joined forces in Fall 2024 to advocate for a community-driven District budget that embodies our vision for education equity; with fully funded, high quality public education that meets the diverse needs of all students and their families.
 

Currently for School Year 2026-2027, we will be focusing on the following areas:

Goal 1: Re-Invigorate the People's Budget

• Every fall, Cambridge decides what our schools are worth — and that decision happens in October budget conversations most families never see. Solidarity Squad is relaunching the People's Budget campaign to make sure educators, paraprofessionals, and caregivers have a seat at that table. We're tracking the City and School Committee budget calendar, building the case for fully funding our schools, and connecting that fight directly to CEA's contract proposals at the bargaining table. If schools are underfunded, educators pay the price — and so do kids.

Goal 2: Governance That Works — A School Committee Accountable to Cambridge

• What does a genuinely effective School Committee look like — to families, to educators, to the community that elected them? We don't ask that question enough. Solidarity Squad is pushing for real answers: a non-voting CEA seat on the Committee, faster movement out of a governance subcommittee that's been stalled for months, and a School Committee that leads rather than defers to the Superintendent. Accountability starts with the community defining what we expect — and then holding elected officials to it.
