Chevrolet announced the pricing and trim for the 2024 Camaro, and there was a glaring omission. It doesn't appear that the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is available for the new model year. Motor1.com has a message out to Chevy to confirm this is accurate.

I now own a lovely 98' red 5spd v6 camaro (w/ only 115k on the clock)! I've been reading a bit online, and apparently they can take quite a bit of boost stock. I was curious what cars I could find in the junkyard with an appropriately sized turbo for the 3.8L (or if that is an oxymoron)? Is anyone here familiar or can point me to a good forum on boosting the 3800? I've been browsing the fullthrottlev6 forum, but it's not very well organized and I can't seem to find a solid FAQ on the motors capabilities stock?

that being said... 3.8L is a good bit of displacment... a t4 of some sort or maybe something off a diesel would be a good starting point... unless you want to do a twin turbo setup in which case you could more easily use typical JY turbos... I wouldn't be supprized of the mitsubishi turbos used on 700 series volvos wouldn't be decent... or a few t25s of some sort...

Sweet action, considering I budgeted myself 5k for the car and managed to get one for 1100, I'm not opposed to going forged internals (I'm a bit worried about the rear end and tranny) and other craziness; I've always wanted to fully build a motor....

Do some research and find out what the Grand Nationals had. Its old-tech but you have an updated version of the same engine. In fact GN forums should have pretty much all the info you'll need. A quick Google on V6 turbo Firebird turned up plenty of places to look for info. Nothing on the 3.8 turbo anniversary edition I was thinking of, but apparently your upgrade is very popular.

If you are going to do the install yourself, remember that turbos take up a lot of space, that the turbo will either require a lot of custom exhaust or be mounted in a difficult to reach location, and require water and oil lines.

there are a few GN guys running that engine that (claim that they) are into the 9's on (on what they say are) unopened long blocks and still (claim to) get mpg numbers in the mid 20's.. search around at www.turbobuick.com and a few threads will pop up.

I remember checking out a turbo 3.4 f-body.. the turbo was between the motor and the radiator. There is a pretty large amount of room right there. Also, rear-mount turbos are pretty well figured out for 4th gen f-bodies.

A 3.8L CAN use a pretty big turbo. I have a 3.8 turbo project (dodge) that im using a t4-family, t67 compressor, p-trim turbine wheel, and .96 a/r t4 pattern housing on. Thats a big, 700hp turbo, so it will be a little overkill if you're looking for 300-400 and a smaller turbo would spool faster.

If you DO end up with a single turbo with a t3 turbine side (common t3/t4 hybrid turbos), i wouldnt go smaller than a stg3 turbine wheel and .63 a/r housing. Honestly, the 3.8 would do just fine with a stg5 t3 turbine, but at that point you might as well use a full t4 turbo.

Ah thanks for the info and encouragement. My only gate right now is the Transmission. What gives? The t-56 will not bolt up to the motor w/o a lot of work and an adapter. There are some built tko-500/600 transmissions but they are 2500 dollars (double the cost of the car). Does anyone know of any other options and the estimated cost? I'm ok w/ 4spd if it's cheaper and can handle some power (the more the better). I would rather overbuild than thrash a transmission. This is not a DD and as such can be funky :)

From what I've found online most people mount it in front of the motor, there is a good bit of room up there once you clean it up. I will be doing an A/C delete since I'm trying to save weight and it's non functional to begin with (plus it has T-tops! Who needs A/C!).

This direct fit MHI turbo charger for the GM LTG family of engines increased power on our own 2018 Camaro from 240whp to over 330whp, an increase of over 90whp on pump gas, without deleting any emissions components. This all new turbo can deliver up to 54lb/min of airflow for a ultimate power capacity of over 450whp.

This turbo ships with an upgraded oil line to maximize flow and ensure reliability.

The most powerful option for the 2016+ Camaro SS is finally here! This top mount twin turbo system has taken the LT1 engine to new heights. The base system provides 5-6 psi to gain over 180-200whp! Modified fuel systems and supporting mods will allow over 1200whp to be made! This system is a true bolt-on. The Gen 6 now has the power adder it deserves!

No. This system was designed to operate from 5lbs to over 30lbs if desired. Most customers only run 5lbs of boost, which in the case of The Eliminator, will make an average of 550rwhp (over 600 horsepower at the crank). Turning the boost up with a turbo is as easy as changing the wastegate spring or adding a manual or electronic boost controller.

No, it is not necessary to bring your car to Hellion Power Systems for installation. We ship our systems world-wide with many customers installing our systems themselves. If you need help with your installation or would like a shop referral please call us at 505-873-4670.

We have changed around our Camaro TT kit a bit so read below for details. Now standard with billet turbos and optional Borg Warner EFR series turbos. As of 3/28/16 the kit is now designed with the oil return to be a little cleaner looking and return to the drivers side valve cover. The proper drill and tap is now included instead of the old billet oil fill cap.

Your choice of fuel options seen below in the pull down menus. All turbos now come with billet wheels standard, and we now have optional Borg Warner EFR turbos availible. Through our extensive testing, most stock engine cars (including stock cams) have been able to achieve a solid 700-800hp just bolting on the kit. We do understand that every car is different and every dyno is different, so your numbers may be a little higher or a little lower depending.

Fit and finish is what AGP is all about. Anyone with a saw and a welder can throw together a bunch of tubing and slap it on a car, but not everyone can excel at producing a quality turbo kit that can last the life of the car. The hot parts (ie turbo adapters, turbine housings) are 2000 degree black ceramic coated. All intercooler tubing is 6061 aluminum and powdercoated with a wrinkle black finish. Exhaust pipes and dump tubes are stainless steel.

This 1981 Yenko Camaro Turbo Z is the last original Yenko Camaro built. Our collection has both the first and the last original Yenko Camaros built. This Turbo Z is one of sixteen Stage 1 cars, featuring a turbo with 7 psi, upping the power from 175 horsepower to 300. The improvements were not limited to just the engine, with a functional hood scoop, 15-inch Turbo White Rally wheels, and various aerodynamic enhancements. Only 19 Turbo Z cars were built, due in part to the high $11K Stage I and $17.5K Stage II sticker prices compared to the $8,300 Z28

PTP Turbo Blankets isolate the heat produced by your turbocharger with the purpose of reducing turbo lag, cooler air intake temperatures, protecting and prolonging vital under hood components (up to 60% under hood heat reduction), and giving a boost in horsepower.

In keeping the exhaust gases within the turbocharger hot, turbocharger efficiency is improved. Also by keeping the heat of the exhaust gases contained within the hot side of the turbocharger and away from the cool side of the turbocharger and the intake path, more oxygen per unit volume reaches the engine, and thus, more power can be achieved.

The PTP Lava Turbo Blankets are constructed with an outer layer made from pulverized volcanic lava rock (Rated 1800F Direct Heat / 2500F Radiant Heat) formed into fabric and woven into a tight mesh weave, these turbo blankets are internally insulated with high temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool (Rated 1832F Continuous / 2300F Peak) overlaid with a high temperature stainless steel mesh for increased durability and improved thermal resistance. The Lava Turbo Blankets are designed to withstand the harshest of conditions.

Every PTP Turbo Blanket is hand-crafted in North America, and quality is guaranteed. PTP Turbo Blankets is well known in the heat insulation industry for its high standards for material selection, design, and construction. Our materials are on the cutting edge of heat insulation technology. With the growing amount of imitation turbo blankets on the market, it's important to note many of them are manufactured using inferior materials for construction. Imitation turbo blankets can be ineffective, or worse, they can be dangerous if flammable materials are used.

The stock turbo on the LTG 2.0T uses a 19T compressor wheel and tiny L (47mm) turbine wheel. We upgrade the original cast 19T compressor with a massive proprietary 70 mm billet compressor wheel and then install a much larger 53mm turbine wheel with an advanced 9 blade aero design. Capable of supporting over 400hp.

A turbo core deposit of $250 is required and will be added to the price when you check-out. The core deposit will be refunded after we receive your used turbo core. The returned turbo must be rebuildable in order to receive the refund. Please contact us if you have any questions.
