Camarc's process technology offers significant advantages when compared to other additive approaches. Advantages include:
Process Maturity - Camarc combines the mature technologies of plasma welding and CNC positioning resulting in a very robust solution for additive manufacturing.
Final Part Properties - As a result of certified weld procedures being used the final part properties will generally meet the properties of a certified weld. There is no need to print a massive number or test samples to determine the material properties and the properties will not change drastically with minor process parameter changes. These are all benefits of utilizing robust and mature processes.
Material Availability - Since nearly any wire suitable for welding can be used with a wire based additive solution there are more materials to choose from and is not subject to limited manufacturing capabilities or the possibility of a large customer buying all of the available supply.
Material Safety - Wire can not be inhaled, is not an explosive risk, and is much less susceptible to contamination by the environment. This makes wire easier to handle and store.
Material Cost - Wire is available at a fraction of the cost of similar materials in powdered form.
Material Usage - Wire is only required to print the part with a minimal amount of machining stock.
Unlimited Manufacturing Size - Wire arc solutions are not subject to physical size limitations of powder bed techniques.
Very High Deposition Rates - Camarc's processes can deposit material in excess of 10x the rate of a typical laser powder bed based additive solutions.
Our plasma system can be assembled to a robotic system and integrated into the robot's control logic or integrated into a 3rd party CNC.
Also known as Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), this technique marries the mature technologies of plasma wire arc welding with CNC or Robotic positioning to accurately position a weld bead to additively create a part. Various closed loop controls can be utilized to maintain bead heights and to monitor inter-pass temperature.
If your preferred additive technology is TIG we can provide the tools needed to integrate our TIG based systems into your process.
A range of plasma arc torches, power supplies and consumables are available to perform additive manufacturing with the PTA process.
