Calvin (Klein) Tan was born on November 28th, 2009, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Calgary is one of the largest cities in Alberta in terms of population and size and is the third-largest city in Canada by population size. Calvin had Chinese ancestry, with both his parents originating from China in the city of Guangzhou, located in Guangdong, China. Having visited back in 2014-2015, Calvin would be fascinated by Chinese culture and, most importantly, Chinese infrastructure. Its rapid bullet train systems, plus the various airports, metro systems, etc., were never seen back in his home, Canada. But, more importantly, Calvin is happy that he was raised in a democratic society- where we all have a voice in what we want and have proper rights and the freedom to be ourselves, which is more important than infrastructure and transportation. Growing up, Calvin was taken care of by his mother and father. He has an older brother named Corey, aged 24. While his mother and father were at work most of the day, Calvin would spend most of his days with his grandparents- interacting and having fun with his two older cousins. Calvin was known as a troublesome child, mainly at home, where he would interfere with his brother's school work and tamper with his electronics- like an instance where Calvin dropped his brother's iPod in a bucket of water. During his childhood, Calvin was primarily an extroverted child. He was known for his bizarre jokes and non-stop chatter among his peers. At around age 6, he developed a strong interest in technology and got fascinated by online-video games, which he obtained from his brother- which at the time, was learning about computer programming, data science, and various other concepts in the technology field. Calvin was mainly an attention-seeker at school, and his annoying and entitled person decreased his reputation. As a result, Calvin started to start his journey in video games while also using technology to learn various things, including photoshop, computer programming, graphic design through Canva, video editing, and different other skills, which he would use to his advantage in projects (inspired by his cousins and brother). With his fascination with video games, he would spend hours a day playing with his friends and establishing new relations- a memory he never forgot. Calvin mainly played Cool Math Games- and sometimes even during class. Currently, Calvin is attempting to learn computer programming, experimenting with game design through coding, and experimenting with various software, mainly Scratch and Python.

Calvin first attended Highwood School, a prestigious elementary school located in the Northwest, from kindergarten to grade 4 (K-4). Highwood School was a strict school primarily intended for Chinese students looking to learn Mandarin. Represented through the Mandarin Program, the program would challenge its students to the limits while educating them on mathematics and teaching challenging concepts at a young age while also educating its students on reading, writing, and listening in English and Mandarin as a bilingual school. This was where Calvin obtained most of his skills. Being part of Highwood School for most of Calvin's education (2014-2020), Calvin's fondest memories from his lifetime took place there. It was where Calvin obtained the majority of his mathematical skills. It was also where he would develop most of his social skills. In Highwood, Calvin showed excellence in mathematics, primarily in grades 2 and 3, when he obtained the Mathletics (educational software) Hall of Fame Award and won a significant math competition for his degree in 2018. It was where he was taught most of his public speaking, and his interests in the technological field, with various topics covered in class revolving around programming, triggered a sudden interest. At the beginning of grade 5, Calvin took classes at Colonel Irvine, a well-known Junior high in Calgary, Alberta. Colonel Irvine was also a school that partakes in the Mandarin program, which meant you were required to learn Chinese and engage in extra-hard curricular in such stressful and harsh conditions and environments. As a result, Calvin left Colonel Irvine, which he attended from 2020-2020, and moved to Simon Fraser Junior High (2020-Present) and has managed to adapt to the new environment- while getting to meet and interact with new people. Calvin was a former classmate and student in 5-35, 6-31, and 7-12 before being transferred to 8-12 in 2022, the class Calvin currently attends. While attending SF, Calvin occasionally takes piano lessons and attempts to master the instrument as a side hustle. However, Calvin has tried to experiment with new things when it comes to music, like learning the clarinet and the ukulele. Calvin used to take extracurriculars in music, mathematics, and computer science before dropping out due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Calvin aspires to get into Harvard one day as a life-long goal, but that still has a long way to come- and it will take a lot of determination.

Science is a way for us to learn more about our world and our surrounding environment. From a young age, Calvin was amazed by science and the concepts covered in class. Science brought him answers to one of the most asked questions he had in mind. Such as why we exist. Why does cancer exist? Why is that that all living organisms go and leave like they never lived? Like his peers, science was fascinating- as we got to look into in-depth concepts that we never would've thought would be possible. Science is a way for us to learn more about our environment and to unravel more about our surrounding world. It's fascinating to see what our planet has to offer.

Aeronautics and Aviation

Calvin is specifically interested in the aviation field or aeronautics. From a young age, Calvin studied various concepts related to planes- such as the concept and forces of flight, aircraft types, etc., and experimented with multiple flight simulations. And was known as an avgeek in school- a person whose passion is in the aviation field. With his interest in aviation, Calvin dreamt of becoming a pilot or engineer in the aviation field but could not because of his poor eyesight and high prescription requirements. This is still an interest that he kept throughout his childhood, and he still has a collection of mini-replicas of various aircraft models he obtained from his mother and aunt. As further covered in grade 6 for the Flight unit in science, this further enhanced Calvin's interest in aviation. Calvin's interest in aeronautics also inspired a sort of passion in space, and engineering revolving different space shuttles.

Anatomy and Human Biology

As a second interest, Calvin loves studying anatomy and learning more about the human body and its function. The T.V. show Chicago Med primarily inspired his interest. How is it that we can think? How can we express emotions, walk, and do everyday tasks? How can an organ consisting of fat, soft tissue, blood vessels, and cells control the way humans act, react, and remember? The human body is such a complex system in the study, with many organs and tons of bodily fluids and techniques required for a human to function correctly, and so much is left uncovered. If we know more about our functions and how our body works, this data might be necessary to develop life-saving treatments for life-threatening diseases like cancer, etc., which is why it's so important. Calvin's interest makes surgeon, emergency medicine, or even a family doctor a dream profession- assuming it isn't out of his skill range. His relatives and T.V. series mainly inspired his interest in the medical field. It was a profession that allowed Calvin to make a difference in life- finally, save lives. His uncles and his father mainly inspired his interest in the medical field.

"We are focused on evolving artificial intelligence. Why? Something a thousand times better than A. It has already been accomplished. That is us, humans. Incredibly, something can express feelings, thoughts, etc. A regular human is already greater than A.I. Can a robot express feelings and change depending on its environment? No, I don't think so. Humans can tell what can solve complex equations and have so much potential. God has already created something great. Something that can evolve from a microscopic cell into an intelligent being."

Forensic Science

Inspired by the T.V. series Chicago P.D and a past science unit that took place back in sixth grade, Calvin and many other kids love forensic science or the science and field which looks into police and detective work revolving around solving criminal investigations and crime scenes. In the eyes of Calvin, forensic science is a fascinating topic to cover- as we learn about not only how crimes occur but why they occur while also learning more about the human body through DNA, blood, and fingerprints. Although detective work is not Calvin's dream job, it is a fascinating topic to explore more in-depth.

Computer Science

Computer Science, specifically computer programming, is one of Calvin's specialties in the science field. Specifically, looking more into our world and how technology has evolved how we communicate and live. Like demonstrated in different movies, technology allows you to do things you never imagined would be possible! From flying to another planet, to being able to save lives. Technology has slowly dominated our world, and it's interesting to see where it goes. n the past, Calvin has experimented with programming and game design. It's interesting seeing how we can do everything from communication to entertainment to education by tapping on glass through a bunch of little pixels. As we have adapted a lot of technology, Calvin believes that it's essential for all of us to get the hang of technology and to have a basic understanding of technology because the truth is, in the future, a lot of jobs will be replaced by artificial intelligence.

First enrolling in pre-school, Calvin was mainly an introverted child that relied on his mother for emotional support and couldn't handle being alone. However, back in 2014, Pokémon Trading Cards were a huge trend. As a child that wanted to fit in, Calvin would spend tens of his parent's cash and invest it by buying Pokémon cards, which he would trade for. Through trades, Calvin established many new relations with various students in his class. A large majority of Calvin's friends back in kindergarten originated from the trend of Pokémon cards and Beyblade tournaments that took place at school.

School was not something that Calvin took seriously until a further date. Dating to second grade, Calvin established a new hobby: drawing. Being influenced by his classmates and peers, Calvin spent hours a day perfecting his projects through colors, shading, elements, and detail. He competed in an art contest, in which he came in third place from the entire school during a drawing event. Calvin was known for his artistic skills, specifically making eye-catching and exemplary illustrations. In third grade, Calvin was successful when it came to math competitions and, overall, mathematics. Calvin established new skill sets, including writing wh, one of his biggest passions in school. As a result, Calvin was one of the top students in his class back then. But, harsh and stressful behaviors were seen in the school, which resulted in Calvin's initial transfer to Simon Fraser Junior High. Although not many students shared the same perspective, the school was something that Calvin enjoyed. It allowed him to experiment with new opportunities, meet and interact with new people, and work with a new group of people- despite the stressful circumstances surrounding it. 

"All of my companies were all jokes if it wasn't obvious already. I am not compatible enough to handle such pressure. But, being a joke, I think it's pretty successful. People have a good laugh about it, and I'm happy my work has inspired many others".

Calvin has had multiple "companies" (in quotation marks). Team Epic was Calvin's first company, starting in around third grade. Team Epic was also an organization started for fun that was supposed to make the learning environment a bit more fun, with epic games that were available for players to join. Team Epic was a significant success and attracted many people before its shutdown at the beginning of grade 4 with a lack of popularity and interest in the game. Calvin's second organization was known as the "Nature Police Services," which would enforce ridiculous rules which revoked many freedoms from students on school property, prevented them from "killing or endangering wildlife including insects," and "prevented them from harming their environment." Nature Police were later shut down by teachers since the N.P.S nearly replaced the responsibilities of school supervisors. Finally, in grade seven, Calvin began the latest and most significant project of his lifetime, Calvin Industries. Starting in grade 7 and founded by Calvin, Hayden, and Chad, Calvin Industries is a leading intelligence agency in 7-21 (formerly) that was intended to enhance the way we communicate and express our ideas and understanding through different types of media. Calvin Industries created various projects for all subjects (Mathematics, Humanities, Science, Design Studies, Multimedia, and Health and Life Skills) and continues to do so as the 2022-2023 school year progresses. In grade 8, Calvin hopes to continue developing its incredible projects by doing more and doing better than ever in past years. Although Calvin Industries and its significant partnerships with the industrial alliance have broken up following their separation, Calvin Industries has continued the industrial legacy by continuing in 8-12 and is long from termination. Calvin's desire and interest in business come from his cousin, Bryan Jiang, a proud entrepreneur who taught Calvin a lot about business and entrepreneurship. In addition, Bryan taught and inspired Calvin to learn many different schools he had obtained.

In October of 2022, Calvin officially founded CalvinX- a cooperation intended to be "inspired" by "SpaceX." CalvinX is still a growing organization apart of the parent company, Calvin Industries, and is actively growing in employee base and projects. CalvinX intends to change how we inform and express our ideas through various media, similar to Calvin Industries. CalvinX, on the other hand, does so while also trying to explore our universe and existence on a more fundamental level and unravel more about our purpose and how to sustain and preserve human life for many future generations. While Calvin Industries focuses on doing so in a more entertaining matter, CalvinX takes matters exceptionally seriously and discusses serious real-world events, mainly about climate change and the end of human existence. So far, CalvinX has made two presentations discussing such events, and many more are expected to come in the future. CalvinX's targets are to inform and educate a younger generation base and develop new designs to apprehend the issue.
