We acknowledge that the land on which Cal Poly sits carries the heritage and culture of the Indigenous People of San Luis Obispo County, the yak titʸu titʸu yak tiłhini, Northern Chumash tribe. We honor the Indigenous People’s connection to these territories and respect the land on which we gather. While Land Acknowledgement is an important starting point, ongoing and consistent action to support Indigenous communities is critical. Being an indigenous ally is an ongoing and life-long process.
If you are visiting the site from outside the SLO area, we encourage you to learn about the history of the land you're on, starting here.
