Duties:
Represent the interest of Black Student Union at all necessary committees deemed necessary by the Executive Board, unless otherwise elected by the General Assembly.
Provides executive direction and oversees the positions of Treasurer, Secretary, Programming Director, Historian, and the Fundraising and Programming Committees
Represent the BSU in all internal functions and external functions
Responsible for necessary signatures pertaining to event planning, reimbursements, and all other BSU documents requiring a presidential signature
Responsible for the BSU budget in coordination with the BSU Treasurer
Collaboratively develops and facilitates general body meetings with other board members
Collaboratively develop and facilitate Executive Board meetings
VICE PRESIDENT - Madison Jackson

• Oversee and manage all financial aspects of BSU finances
• Keep an accurate and detailed record of all financial transactions for the club
• Prepare and distribute financial statements and reports to the Executive Board on a quarterly basis
• Collect membership dues and any additional contributions
• Maintain and keep proper documentation of all donor and sponsor information
• Draw up cost estimates for potential investments and purchases for the club
• Report financial matters directly to the Internal President and Club Advisor
• Disburse BSU funds and issue receipts
• Develop an annual budget to be approved by the Co-Presidents
• Assist the Co-Presidents and Executive Board with preparing program budgets

• Act as recorder of all BSU Executive Board and general assembly meetings
• Maintain all agenda meeting notes, attendance, and minutes
• Distribute meeting agendas to the Executive Board in a timely manner
• Create BSU general assembly meeting and BSU event presentations as delegated by the Internal BSU President
• Coordinate and schedule Executive Board meetings with the assistance and approval of the Co Presidents. Give proper notice of any meeting changes or cancellations.
• Inform BSU officers of upcoming events, meetings, deadlines, and future commitments • Coordinate the distribution of BSU newsletters with the Communications Director to include past meeting notes and future meeting agendas
• Maintain a roster of current BSU officers and active members
• Create, maintain, and distribute a monthly calendar with all relative BSU meetings, BSU events, and campus and community events with the direction of the Internal President.

• Organizes the execution of BSU member social gatherings
• Organizes the execution of BSU Executive Board retreats
• Work closely with the Communications Director and Historian to market and record all BSU hosted and affiliated events
• Provides a detailed account of programming costs, effectiveness, and event success, and distribute results to the Executive Board and Historian

• Serve as the Chair to the Volunteer Committee
• Delegate pertinent tasks to the Social (In)Justice Specialist and Volunteer Committee
• Establish and maintain a relationship between BSU and the Black Academic Excellence Center (BAEC), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) local chapter(s), Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA), and Cal Poly’s Black Alumni Chapter
• Reach out to key organizations both on and off campus that may work effectively with BSU to provide academic and professional development opportunities, including but not limited to, internships, scholarships, on or off campus jobs, volunteer or mentorship opportunities
• Find and coordinate community service and engagements events for BSU the Executive Board and general assembly members.
• Enhance and promote BSU community involvement through networking and volunteer opportunities
• Coordinate general assembly meeting drop-ins with BSU campus departments or clubs in which the campus entities can present, network, and provide information about their department or club and services or opportunities available to BSU
• Serve as the Athletic Liaison between BSU and athletic and clubs sports. The Athletic Liaison will work to engage with athletic teams and Black-identified athletes to increase participation and ensure athletes are provided updates with the same information provided during general assembly meetings
• Manage and delegate tasks pertaining to the recruitment of BSU prospective members and target populations (incoming freshmen, athletes, transfer students)
• Manage and track the annual budget for community outreach initiatives and programs

• Report all historical black achievements and frequently educate the BSU general assembly on the history of BSU at general assembly and Executive Board meetings
• Take professional photos and video at all BSU related events and will act as the official photographer, videographer, and branding design specialist of BSU
• Collaborate with the Communications Director and Communications Team to circulate and publicize BSU photographs, videos, and related historical documentation to the Executive Board, BSU general assembly, and media outlets
• Develop and maintain a scrapbook (physical or electronic) of all BSU events and meetings • Keep account of the logistics and execution of general assembly meetings, Executive Board meetings, and event executions in order to provide a protocol schematic and record of activity for future board officers
• Make annual updates to the BSU Bylaws as deemed necessary by the Executive Board

• Oversees the Communications Team (Social Media Specialist and Web Design Specialist) and provide approval for all website content, design, and social media content
• Develop a marketing strategy and execution plan for all BSU communications, including but not limited to, newsletter communications, social media content, recruitment, and planned events.
• Work closely with the Historian to coordinate the creation and distribution of marketing materials that have the brand or logo of BSU
• Develop and administer marketing polls and/or questionnaires that gauge club participation, potential meeting agenda and future event interest, etc. and provide the results to the Executive Board and Programming Director to guide BSU programming towards the interest of the general assembly
• Create and distribute newsletter communications to the BSU general assembly and Executive Board
• Serve as the liaison between BSU and news media entities with the approval of the External President and the support of the Executive Board
• Coordinate the creation and execution of written communications or statements made on the behalf of BSU with the Executive Board

• Manage the BSU website and ensure that the webpage content is consistently updated • Work closely with the Secretary to post general assembly meeting minutes and monthly event calendars on the BSU webpage in a timely manner
• Maintain an archive of previous newsletter communications and meeting minutes to be displayed on the BSU webpage
• Facilitate the production of all marketing and publicity materials (posters, ads, flyers) with the direction of the Communications Director and Historian
