Bosung Josh Kim is a 4th year biomedical engineering student concentrating in mechanical design. He chose biomedical engineering to be part of a solution that can help people. Last year he acted as Membership Chair. To promote the continued growth and development of BMES, this year as President he acts as the voice of BMES, oversees and coordinates BMES officers and events, and acts as the liaison between the club, industry contacts, and our BMES faculty advisor, Dr. Scott Hazelwood. He is originally from Temecula, CA and in his free time you can find him cooking, making music, watching movies, playing games, or napping.
Jaden Frazier is a 3rd year biomedical engineering student with a pre-med concentration. In wanting to get more involved in the major and explore networking opportunities, he became a BMES officer. Last year he acted as Social Chair, while this year as vice president he plans meetings, supports the president in club oversight, and serves as presiding officer and main point of contact between the club and Biomedical Engineering Department in absence of the president. He is originally from Anchorage, Alaska and in his free time you can find him outside backpacking, surfing, or hiking.
Sydney Moore is a 3rd year biomedical engineering student concentrating in mechanical design. She loves biology and anatomy and in wanting to help people with my career became a BMES officer. This is her second year as Corporate Chair coordinating with various clubs to plan industry tours, planing the department banquet, and serving as the main point of contact between the club and the Industrial Advisory Board. She is originally from Pleasant Hill, CA and in her free time you can find her hiking, baking, camping, or spending time with friends and family.
Nicolas Wai is a 2nd year biomedical engineering student with a general concentration. He chose biomedical engineering due to liking the application of engineering in the medical field and became a BMES officer to get more involved with the department. This year as Corporate Chair he coordinates with various clubs to plan the Biotechnology Career Fair and industry tours, serves as a manages the alumni network, and oversees the Corporate Committee. He is originally from Bellevue, WA and in his free time you can find him at the beach with friends or hiking.
Tom is a 3rd year biomedical engineering student that hails from a small village known as Auburn California. As Membership Chair he pairs mentees and mentors, plans WOW and Open House events, writes the yearly Chapter Development Report, and oversees the Membership Committee. When he isn’t in class, you can find him relaxing and drawing FBD’s. He is best known for his ability to make hand-crafted cutting boards. If you see him be sure to say hi!
Ella Mahood is a 3rd year biomedical engineering student concentrating in mechanical design. After a type 1 diabetes diagnosis two weeks before her 11th birthday, she made it her mission to help others as they have helped her. While last year she acted as BMES treasurer, this year as Publicity Chair & Webmaster she manages all five BMES social media accounts, advertises events, and builds this website. She is originally from Santa Rosa, CA and in her free time you can find her building arms in the QL+ lab, adventuring with friends, and taking care of her 30 plants.
Tori Barrington is a 2nd year biomedical engineering student. She became a BMES officer because she wanted to help BMES provide students with amazing networking and industry experiences. As Secretary she keeps track of upcoming events and sends out weekly BMES emails. She is originally from Illinois and is currently a member of the Cal Poly Dance Company.
Michaela Bloyd is a 2nd year biomedical engineering student. She joined BMES to get connected with other biomedical engineers of all grade levels. As Social Chair she plans all social events for the year, works with other clubs to plan the Biomedical Make-A-Thon, and oversees the Social Committee. She is originally from Santa Jose, CA and in her free time you can find her at the beach, playing soccer, making jewelry, or embroidering.
Kaajal Khanna is a 2nd year biomedical engineering student concentrating in mechanical design. Knowing she will be helping improve the lives of others as an engineer is really important to her, so she loves being involved with her major as an officer of BMES. As Social Chair she plans all social events for the year, works with other clubs to plan the Biomedical Make-A-Thon, and oversees the Social Committee. She is originally from Modesto, CA and in her free time you can find her with the Delta Gamma Faternity, playing cello, playing intermural tennis, or baking.
Anthony Bonvino is a 4th year biomedical engineering transfer with a general concentration. He joined BMES because he has a passion for improving the lives of others. As Treasurer he maintains an annual budget for the club, plans fundraisers, and oversees the Fundraising Committee. He is originally from Las Vegas, NV and in his free time you can find him at Medical Design Club, playing tennis, or cycling with the CP Cycling Intercollegiate Team.
Scott Hazelwood received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Davis and B.S. and M.E. degrees in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College. Prior to joining Cal Poly, Dr. Hazelwood served as an assistant professor in Orthopaedics Research at the University of California Davis Medical Center and was employed as a senior design engineer with General Dynamics. As the BMES faculty advisor you can find him at all our meetings giving advice and cracking jokes.
