As of July 2024, I am now a Senior Application Scientist at Aegiq where I will lead the exploration of potential applications with quantum photonic technologies.
Between 2020 and 2024, I was a Research Associate and then a Research Fellow in the Quantum Optics and Quantum Many-body Systems (QOQMS) group of Prof. Andrew Daley at the University of Strathclyde (now at the University of Oxford).
Before returning to Scotland, I spent 9 fantastic months living in Dresden, Germany. This stay was cut short by covid-19 and the arrival of my daughter, I had planned to live there for a few years. I worked at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems with Dr Anne Nielsen. This was a great time for my scientific development, being exposed to problems in many-body quantum systems and being introduced to fractals.
I spent my PhD years in the group of Prof. Patrik Öhberg and Dr Manuel Valiente at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. This was a fantastic time and I enjoyed discovering the upsides of a research career. My thesis was focused on topological states of matter, but I worked on a variety of topics during my PhD.
I recently got married to my wonderful wife Lyndsay. A lot of our time is taken up by the whirlwind of joy that is our daughter, Orla.
