I'm a mixed-methods policy researcher, demographer, and Assistant Professor at the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work at UW-Madison. My research focuses on social policies related to aging, disability, and poverty in the United States. Lately, my work has focused on the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program.
I have a Ph.D. in Public Policy & Management from the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance at the University of Washington. Prior to my doctoral studies, I was a policy analyst and advocate in Sacramento, California. There, I developed the questions that eventually became my research agenda.
My name is pronounced KAH-lee FREE-tag. My last name is German (it means Friday!), but we pronounce it the Americanized way.
